“We are a church with Purpose” …
Have you ever asked or wondered why do we as church, do what we do? Have you ever wondered what is the purpose of at-tending worship regularly, serving and giving regularly?
First, our purpose for doing what we do as a body of believers called church is to bring Glory to God! Listen, it is not about us … It is about God! God is not just the starting point of your life, but He is the Source of All Life. It says in Psalms 29 “… Give unto the Lord, o you mighty ones. Give unto the Lord Glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the Glory due His name”… (NKJV) When you come to the House of God for praise and worship it is to give God all of the Glory.
Secondly, as God’s people we must represent Christ. The purpose for Bible Study, Sunday School, and the proclamation of the Gospel is that we may learn of Christ and then strive to be less like us, and more like Him. If we are to show the world who Christ is, we must learn of Him and take on His nature and will. We are taught by Jesus in Matthew 5:16 “…To let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” …
As God works in your life, your light shines. Our purpose is to live our lives in such a way that when other people see our good works they will say, “Look what God has done.”
We also represent Christ by how we treat one another. We must treat each other with LOVE and RESPECT. The Bible teaches that it is impossible to love God whom you have never seen, if you show hate towards your sisters and brothers who you see every day.
Finally, our purpose for attending worship, serving God, man and giving of our tithes and offerings is so that the Gospel may be spread. It is the charge and command of EVERY believer to “Go ye Therefore”… We are obligated to share our faith, it is not an option. There are so many people who will never attend our churches, that’s why we must take “church” to them. Jesus asked Peter on one occasion, “Do you love me Peter? And when Peter said, “Yes, Lord you know I love you.” Jesus then told him to feed His sheep.
If we love God like we say, then we should be honored and excited to tell someone else about Jesus and His love!
Submitted Lovingly,
Your Pastor Rev. Alphonso Tucker

On Sunday, March 27th, the Deaconesses travelled downtown to give out bags of food, water, and toiletries to the homeless who gather at Saint Vincent's Catholic Church. With the help of our church family, we were able to give out fifty-five bags of food. A special thanks to Sis. Kimberly Pelzer for the bag of toiletries with bible verses.
We want to thank Deacon Kelly, Deacon Bostick, and Deacon Owens who traveled with us. Also in attendance were Sis. Kitty Owens, Deaconess Mary Murphy, Deaconess Ollie Kelly, Sis. Audrey Highsmith, Sis. Michele Bright and yours truly, Deaconess Hallie Allen. A special thanks to our church family for their contributions.
Please continue to say a special prayer for Deaconess Mary Guthrie.

FCCBC Continues Expansion Plans
We are continuing expansion plans for the 24,000 square foot property located at 4201 Groveland Avenue. The Planning Committee’s first priority was to clean and clear the grounds. Contractors were hired to clear the debris, fill in the foundation, and grade the area to make the lot level. Tree limbs were trimmed from a rotting tree located in the front of the property to avoid harm if the tree were to fall over.
Congregation members were asked for suggestions on property use at our Spring church meeting. Several alternatives are under consideration.
We know that we cannot do this alone and ask you to partner with us through prayer and financial support of our Building Fund campaign. We look forward to keeping you updated on all that God is doing.
The Planning Committee consisting of Chairman Jimmy Kelly, Deacon Keith Owens, Sr., and Trustees Shirley Carter, Yolanda Cash, Marilyn Dorsey, Henry Smith, and Robert White continue working together as we move forward with our expansion plans.

Vacation Bible School Kick-Off
In spite of the oppressive heat, scores came out on Saturday, June 13th to engage in activities that herald the coming of our Vacation Bible School. A few braved the heat to play basketball but some physical activities were curtailed secondary to the heat. Cold drinks and frozen cups helped to keep the heat at bay. The heat, however, did not prevent the children from enthusiastically enjoying the moon bounce. Another activity included body painting. Many children and a few adults availed themselves of this craft.
Free, free, free. This was the order of the day. A free place to eat and a free place to shop. Free food included hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and freshly popped popcorn. Free flea market items included books, household items, and clothing. Many found little treasures among the donated items.
In addition to the festivities, scores were registered, We enjoyed a great fellowship and a spirit of cooperation and cohesiveness among our members. We thank God for all that were instru-mental in making our Kick Off a success. We anticipate seeing all during Vacation Bible School.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend FCCBC’s

Helpful Hints
To chill drinks fast and keep them cold in a cooler, add enough water and ice cubes to
completely cover the cans and bottles. Add a handful of table salt. Place your
