The Falcon News
The new library bus has been open to the children since Friday 13th September. There will be an official opening later in the year, but until then, children are able to enjoy and use this new facility. A bus was chosen for the library to make reading more fun and exciting, and we think you’ll agree that it has done just this. Some seats have been removed and book shelves have been added. There are cool couches upstairs, and a table at the back. The floors have been carpeted; it looks clean and fresh!
Speaking to children on the bus, they have said that they love reading on there and enjoy being somewhere
different to read. It is being used on a Friday afternoon as part of the Manor Park University as well as during lunchtimes.
When interviewed,
Yuva commented, ‘There is a good range of books, including sci-fi and fantasy novels.’ Speaking to Yvie, she said, ‘If you would like to go onto the bus, we recommend that you read Roald Dahl or David Walliams.’
For those of you
wanting to visit the bus,
here are some of the rules: Treat books with respect No jumping/playing on the chairs or in the walkways No loud talking No eating Give priority to people coming down the stairs Keep the books tidy Place books back in their original spaces.
This is not the only new and exciting reading initiative happening this year, so watch this space to hear the latest news first!

The Tree
The tree in the courtyard
area has been partly cut
down because of the
effects of a storm even
though it was home to
some squirrels. Did you
know that the people that
cut down trees are called
tree surgeon. The tree was
a weeping willow but it
got cut down so the storms
did not hurt any one.
Hopefully it will begin to
grow back in the Summer.
The New Nursery
This half term, a
new nursery has opened
at Manor Park. The
nursery,which used to be
class18,is next to the stars
leading up to the year
5/6 corridor. The nursery
was made to make room
,so more children could
attend the nursery-parents
wanted their children to
go to Manor Park. It is
recommended for children
aged 3/4. With about 40
children in the nursery, the
room is very busy. They
do a lesson every week to
ensure the younger ones
are learning just as much
as having fun.
Football table
Manor Park
bought a new football
table because the old one
has lots of broken edges
and Handles. Most of the
time the ball of the
football table is gone
because the goal is
missing in one of them so
the ball zooms away and
the children never find it.
But now we have a
new football table!
Where you can’t lose the
ball and it’s extra
protective and it’s
impossible to break the
brand new football table!
Uniform
You will all have
noticed the uniform
change which started this
academic year, and are
all hopefully wearing your
school ties! This change in
form was brought about
to make us be smarter
and more presentable
when we are outside of
school; the new look

Bruce Decorates
Following the
closure of the lower hall
and interesting paintings
in the upper, you are all
probably wondering what
is going on. Bruce Jones,
our painter, is creating
some beautiful paintings
that depict various people
playing sport, which our
headteacher has said
‘celebrates our sporting
achievements’. The other
hall, which will be done
over soon, celebrates
achievements in arts and
drama, such as our yearly
year six play.
Probably
everyone in this school is
used to turning on a tap
and getting cool, clear
water, but ever thought
what would happen if it
didn’t? However, there
are many ways to
conserve this valuable
liquid:
💧Turning the tap off
while you brush your teeth
💧Limiting the amount of
time you spend in the
shower
💧Not completely filling
the bath up
💧Reusing dirty water to
water the garden (your
plants don’t care)
💧Wearing clothes more
than once before washing
them
ECO FRIENDLY TIP OF
THE WEEK
The Falcon News
The climate change
protests
These protests have been
held in Birmingham. The
first protest was on 23rd
September and 150
countries were involved
(This includes Wales,
England, Scotland, N
Ireland, Hong Kong,
Thailand, Australia to
name a few).
‘There is no Planet B’ and
‘Fight for your child’s
future’ were some of the
main messages delivered
by the public.
The purpose of the protests
were to target companies
like Shell to become more
eco-friendly. As a school,
we are also making more
effort to be
environmentally friendly,
every classroom in the
school now has a recycling
bin to ensure paper and
card are correctly
recycled.
McDonald’s and Burger
King are scrapping
plastic toys
These companies
will instead be offering
fruit bags and books to
replace their consumption
of single-use plastic –
reducing waste by 350
tonnes. They hope to help
educate children by giving
them books instead.
140th anniversary of the
Nintendo
Nintendo began
making beautiful picture
cards (Hanafuda)
designed for gambling in
a little corner shop in
Kyoto. By 1953, the
company was significantly
larger and was being run
by Hiroshi Yamauchi.
In 1956, Hiroshi
visited an American
company who
manufactured playing
cards and was shocked by
their small offices; he had
realised how limited his
business was. While
touring one of their many
factories, Hiroshi noticed
one of his workers playing
with a robotic arm he had
constructed, and, taking a
gamble, decided to
market it. The ‘Ultra Hand’
as it was named, sold over
1,000,000 units, earning
Nintendo its place back in
the business and the
employee (whose name
was Gunapei) a place in
product development.
Nintendo began
with more toys, and
eventually arcade games,
which evolved into Zelda,
Mario, Pokemon, and
Nintendo’s other thriving
franchises. They also
started making their own
games machines: from
Gameboys to switches,
and DSs to Wiis, Nintendo
have made so many
consoles since.
As well as this,
Nintedo are bringing out a
new console called the
Nintendo Switch Lite. There
will also be a variety of
new games being
launched.
Sport
The Rugby World
Cup began in Japan last
month. England are
currently number 1 in their
pool, having played
against Tonga, the USA
and Argentina. This is the
biggest tournament in the
sport of rugby – come on
England!
The World
Athletics Championships
2019 was held at the end
of September in Doha.
Great Britain were
awarded 5 medals in total
(2 golds and 3 silvers).
Dina Asher-Smith and
Katarina Johnson-
Thompson were our gold
medal winners.
