What does the excretory system do in the body
The excretory system is the system in your body that filters the blood, takes the urine transports it to the bladder, and lets it out of the body.Urine helps balance the amount of salt and fluids, (mainly waters) in your body. The kidneys in your body act as a filter along the urinary path. It filters the blood and then urine is transported through the ureter into the bladder. After there has been enough build up of urine in the bladder, the urine is pushed out of the body through the urethra.
Did you know Facts about the excretory system
The Color of your urine changes between the colour of straw and a colour close to amber depending on the amount you eat/drink.
Water is 95% of the urine that is let out of your body. The average
amount that
an adult
bladder can
hold is16-24
ounces of
urine.
The average
person will use
the washroom
about 3000 times
in a year.
Kidney stones can
be as big as a golf
ball.
The kidney stones
A kidney stone is made of calcium oxalate, that is created in the inner lining of the kidney and it is released out of the body in the stream of urine. sometimes with the size of it in some occasions it causes a lot of pain getting out. Also it can get stuck in the urine stream, blocking the urine like a dame it is usually made by people, not drinking the recommended amount 8-10 glasses a day.
Urethritis
This disease causes inflammation in the urethra, that is caused by bacteria, making an infection putting the patient in a lot of pain. So they have to take a pain medication to stop there swelling, pain. Urethritis is an infection on the lining of the urethra it is the narrow tube that carries urine out of the body. In men, the urethra also carries semen. Urethritis usually starts when bacteria from the anus are spread to the urethra. The infection could affect the bladder prostate.
How can you maintain a healthy system?
keep your excretory system healthy, you need to drink a lot of water. Water flushes your body system, removing toxic molecules and carrying them out of the body. Also, exercise is helpful; when you exercise, you sweat, removing dead skin. Eat healthily; like all systems, the excretory system needs vitamins.
Avoid toxins, which can be picked up from drugs, alcohol and smoking.
NAME AND DESCRIBE TWO PROFESSIONS THAT WORK WITH THIS SYSTEM.
Urology: Urologists provide medical and surgical management for disorders of the urinary track.
Nephrologists: Nephrologists provide medical management to patients with kidney disease.
Organs that make up the excretory system
Some organs included in the excretory system are the kidneys, the bladder and the ureter. The kidneys the body fluids and salt levels. This is called osmoregulation. They also control the hydration levels for your body. If you haven’t been drinking enough water, the kidneys will reabsorb as much water as possible. Less urine is produced, and you lose less water.
How do these organs work together?
The kidneys act like a filter: they remove all the harmful molecules from your bloodstream. Your bladder fills up with the urine being produced by your kidneys. When it becomes full, your brain will tell you that you need to remove it.
How the excretory system is connected to two other systems in the body
It is connected to the circulatory system; all blood which circulates through the body will pass through one of the kidneys. The kidneys clean your blood by removing harmful molecules and leaving the ones which aren’t harmful.
How the excretory system is connected to two other systems in the body
It is also connected to the endocrine system; kidney functions have to be changed often to provide the best environment for your cells. For example, if you drink too much water, hormones are released which allow for more urine production. There is also an “adrenal gland” on top of each kidney which release adrenaline. These are connected to the endocrine system.
Levels of organization in humans
The kidneys are made up of muscle tissue, which is in turn made up of many muscle cells. The kidneys, as well as many other organs, make up the excretory system, one of the many organ systems in a human.
