Dear Partners, Clients and Potential Clients,

Thank you for taking the time to review our products.

During much of my career as an executive at leading telecom and IT infrastructure firms such as MCI, WinStar, Lucent Technologies and Bell Labs, I had the privilege of participating in a movement to revolutionize a commodity-based telecom industry that made little progress for over a century.

The challenge we faced was that the legacy systems of yesteryear needed to be rethought to create the convergence of multiple new products into seamless, bundled offerings. My colleagues in the telecom and IT sectors spent nearly three decades passionately developing multiple types of networks and systems innovations, e.g., advanced billing, mobile, cloud computing, satellite and intelligent internet protocols. This gave rise to indispensable services and tools, such as email (vs. paper), video (vs. traveling to face-to-face meetings), e-commerce (vs. driving to a store) and now smart power grids.

The “telecom movement” created efficiencies that we never dreamed of. It was this that convinced me that technology would save the earth.

When creating Glass Apps, I was intrigued with the potential of what “could be”, when technology and glass, another commodity based industry that has remained largely static for centuries, meet. The possibilities, much like telecom in the early 1990s, are seemingly limitless. The future of glass is here and all of us at Glass Apps are honored to present you with the Evolution of Glass.

Smart film by Glass Apps

“We specified Glass Apps for our recent project at the Cartier Foundation in Paris. This was a technically complex installation in which the film was applied across extra-large panels of glass and integrated within a multimedia control system to be live-synced to a sound installation. Slowly and effortlessly it faded to reveal the landscape beyond, with the film becoming completely undetectable. It did an improbably difficult task with a level of grace and reliability that other products could not match. I understand that when our project ended the film was removed and reused. A switchable interlayer of PDLC film situated between two conductive interlayers that can be bonded between two pieces of smooth glass.
