Maestro Lee Mathews has begun plan-
ning for our June 7 concert, “It’s a
Wonderful World.”
Auditions are open now for the third
quarter of the 2014/2015 season. Sing-
ing is good for the mind, the soul, and
even the heart. Yes, there are studies
that show it has MANY positive physi-
cal and mental benefits (http://
ideas.time.com/2013/08/16/singing-
changes-your-brain/) but singing with
the Everett Chorale offers so much
more. We are active in our communi-
ties to share choral music with others
through concerts, sing-outs and com-
munity events. We welcome singers
and of all ages. We are volunteers, giv-
ing back to our communities through-
out the year. We aren't just singers,
we are friends and neighbors, helping
the needy of the community with food
baskets and Christmas gifts for needy
families. We offer classes on introduc-
tory music theory to help members
read and understand music.

Many talented singers would
like to sing with the Chorale,
but need a review of the ba-
sics of reading music.
As a follow-up to our first
course in understanding the
basics of music, two mem-
bers of the Everett Chorale
board with extensive music
backgrounds are offering
“Music 102, More about Un-
derstanding the Basics of Mu-
sic.” This quarter’s classes,
free to Chorale members,
include 30 minute discussions
on key signatures, major and
minor scales, chord progres-
sions, the Circle of Fifths,
counting practice, harmony
and time signatures.
Attendees report that the
information learned from
these classes has given them
a new sense of understanding
and confidence in their music
reading ability.
If you would like to sing with
the Chorale but want a re-
view of reading music, con-
tact us at
more information.
