Case Study
Otis Group: Lifts and escalators• Small volume waste collection• Duration of contract: 3 years• Annual value: £200k
Otis waste management
• 495no repair and maintenance Eng. covering the UK• Working on clients sites• Live sites where their client is carrying out their daily
activities• No waste storage on sites• Waste removed in Engineers van• Otis had no visibility of waste streams being generated,
volume being generated and the cost of the disposal• Waste being generated was small in volume but covered
several waste streams.• As a result they came out to tender looking for a solution
Acubin Commercial Proposal
• Haz-box identified as disposal option of choice• Servicing 495 plus Otis engineers (UK only)• Each engineer to be supplied with Haz-box• Additional packaging included e.g. light tubes, scrap metal• Nationwide collection service required• Scheduled service agreed (milk round)• Otis engineers to meet Acumen at set locations• Proposed locations identified (based on Otis office/depot locations)• Acumen to set at least x2 meeting points minimum for each location.• Proposal built around a minimum of 8 engineers per meeting point• Reduced charge for Engineers in excess of the agreed minimum 8no per
meeting point• Paperwork/consignment notes to be attached to Haz-box and
transferred to Acumen on exchange• Emergency/reactive service available to Otis• Reporting agreed and provided monthly
Liverpool Roll-out programme
The working model is based on 10no engineers working from the Liverpool office. Meeting Acumen Hazardous collection vehicle at four meeting points.
Working Model one: monthly scheduled collections
10no Engineers haz-boxes collected
8no haz-boxes charged at (8 eng’s per meeting point x1) £46.40 per box £371.20
2no reduced charges for the 8 engineers £30.45 per Eng/box £60.90
Total: £432.10
12 monthly collections x value of 10 engineers(£432.10)
12 x £432.10 = £5,185.20
Conclusion: An Otis engineer will generate £518.52 worth of waste per annum
