DESCRIPTION

The fact is, that we have more people who are reaching the age where it becomes necessary for them to enter into a care situation, and that also means that there will be just that many more people that will be afflicted with dementia. This will require more skilled and trained workers to take care of the aged in an economy that may or may not be able to provide the funds to do so.

The fact is, that we have more people who are

reaching the age where it becomes necessary for

them to enter into a care situation, and that also

means that there will be just that many more people

that will be afflicted with dementia.

Couple all of that with a highly expectant baby

boomer generation, who may be the least prepared

generation to enter into this time of their lives of

any generation up to this point. People are simply

not aware, nor are they prepared to cope with the

realities of the situation.

Statistics now tell us that one

out of two people who survive

to age 80 and beyond will be

required to enter a nursing

home simply because of their

care needs at that time. If they

do not have the funds to pay

for that, and most don't, then it

will be up to society to

provide.

Over the past 30 years or so, more people have been

kept alive than previously, due to advanced medical

techniques and procedures. In prior years, these

people would have normally died from cancer, heart

disease, diabetes, and so on. Now, they are all going

to be aging and wondering where they are going to

live out their final years.

While it is noble, and healthy for parents to live

with their children during their aged years, it can

get to be a real problem if the parents become

incapacitated to the point where the children

cannot take care of them anymore.More info on:

There are some serious changes facing everyone,

changes that are probably going to work out

differently than expectations. It is going to take lots

of discussion and understanding to make the proper

decisions that work in favor of both the parents and

the rest of the family in these situations.
