MORGAN HILL 4TH OF JULY PARADE

Calling all Participants!! Theme: “Sing the Songs of America

Let’s help our club have a good showing this year as we do every year!!

Last year we took home the 1st place Equestrian Group prize. Our goal again this year is to have a good size group of full size horses, as well as the pooper scooper!

We will decorate the trailer with a caliope theme in hopes of earning yet another first place award. If you can’t ride a horse in the parade – you can STILL walk and carry our banner with us! So, please let us know your interest asap!

Allene Liebenberg is chairing the parade again this year. This year the participants all need to be on the application so that all our trucks, horse trailers, and cars

can be issued permits to enter the staging area. This is a stricter access policy than previous years. If you’re interested in participating or helping with the parade, please make sure to contact a board member or Allene.

This is our chance to shine before our

local community – let’s WOW them!

San Martin Horseman’s Association

Minutes of the General Meeting 04/12/2019

The Meeting was called to order at 7.35 p.m.

Audra read the Treasurer’s Report. Chere thanked Karen for doing our taxes for free.

There followed an update on horse boarding restrictions and an update on the last meeting of the County. Basically, they need to hear from horse people in particular or else we will get lumped in with other land users like wineries etc. We have to make our views known that we need space for horse boarding. We all need to step up and attend these meetings. Next meeting T.B.A. probably in the summer

There will be a County meeting on April 25th at 6.30p.m. at Gilroy Old City Hall regarding the rodeo.

Our May10th General Meeting will feature a talk on Dreampower. Audra will make tortilla soup to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Please bring a Mexican type side item to share.

We are trying to organize a presentation n on Horse Massage for a future meeting.

There followed a slide presentation on Wildflowers by Amanda. Leaflets identifying different flowers were passed out. This presentation was given as info on the Wildflower Ride which followed next morning.

Respectfully submitted by Elaine Alton

The Teri Davis Patane Memorial Horse Camp for Kids (TDP Horse Camp).

.Letter Received by SMHA:

On behalf of the kids that participate in the Teri Davis Patane Horse Camp for Kids. We would like to express a huge thank you for your donation. It is greatly appreciated! The camp is operated totally by volunteers and is funded by individual donations.

100% of all donations go toward camp expenses. Continued support such as yours is what makes the camp possible. The kids attending the camp get to experience an activity that they would otherwise not have the opportunity in which to participate. They have a terrific time. Again Thank you! Thank you!

Spotted on a UK Bridleway This bridleway was created from a disused rail line that moved wagons full of coal on a cable system with a wheel house at the top of the hill. Now you can ride your horse for several miles along this path. As seen in this photo, they have thoughtfully provided mounting blocks, to help you dismount/mount, so you can lead your horse through the tunnel under the motorway (freeway) The problem I had walking through the tunnel was avoiding the horse poop in the darkness in the middle.

COYOTE HIGHLANDS – COYOTE CANYON :

The Draft Plan documents are available

http://www.parkhere.org/CoyoteHighlands

5/1 Update: The County of Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Department (Department) has completed an environmental review on the Project. Environmental review examines the nature and extent of all potential impacts on the environment that could occur if a project is approved and implemented. Based on the review, the Department has prepared a Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for this Project. An MND is a statement by the County that the Project will not have a significant effect on the environment if mitigation measures are included in the Project.

The public is welcome to review and comment on the Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration during the public comment period. The public comment period for this Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration begins on April 30, 2019 and ends

on May 30, 2019. According to State law, the deadline for a response is thirty (30) days after the filing of the CEQA Document; however, the Department would appreciate an earlier response, if possible. Hard copies of the documents are available for review at Coyote Lake, Anderson Lake park HQs, and the Parks department main office in Los Gatos.

The Project is tentatively scheduled to be presented to the Housing, Land Use, Environment, and Transportation (HLUET) Committee for their consideration and recommendation on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at 70 W. Hedding St., San Jose, CA 95112. The Department recommends the Draft Plan to be approved and the Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration be adopted by the County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors. This action is tentatively scheduled on Tuesday, August 23, 2019 in the Board Chambers, 70 W. Hedding, San Jose, CA 95112.
