The European Games are a multisport event for the elite athletes of Europe, which takes place every four years.
The idea to organise European Games has been launched even before the creation of the Association, but then abandoned. It was resumed by the EOC, whose project was initiated at the 2007 General Assembly in Valencia (ESP), where it was agreed to conduct a feasibility study.
After five years, during which the matter was analysed and discussed with other major stakeholders, at their 2012 General Assembly in Rome the majority of the European NOCs voted to go ahead with the European Games. Azerbaijan’s invitation to host in Baku the 2015 inaugural European Games was accepted.
The sports programme for the Baku 2015 included 20 sports and welcomed some 7’000 athletes.
The second European Games will be held in Minsk 21-30 June 2019. There will be 15 sports and 4,000 athletes are expected to attend.

The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) is the top multisport event for young European athletes between the ages of 14 and 18. There are both a winter and summer edition, which take place in two-year cycles, in odd years.
In 1990, on the initiative of their President Dr. Jacques Rogge, the EOC launched the event under the name “European Youth Olympic Days” (EYOD), now EYOF.
Approximately 3,600 participants take part in the summer Festivals, and around 1,600 at the winter events.
The EYOF have become one of the best gateway for young promising athletes to Olympic Games.Since they were launched with the summer edition in 1991 in Brussels (BEL), the EYOFs were staged successively in 1993 in Aosta (ITA) and in Valkenswaard (NED); 1995 in Andorra-la Vella (AND) and in Bath (GBR); 1997 in Sundsvall (SWE) and in Lisbon (POR); 1999 in Poprad Tatry (SVK), Esbjerg (DEN), 2001 in Vuokatti (FIN) and Murcia (ESP).
