Chapter 1. The Vajrayana Speculum Meditation
Tiredness is the truth of the modern age. Every man, woman, and child seek repose. Who doesnt
want a healthy meditation routine that would instantly make them more relaxed and refreshed?Many religions claim to bring relaxation through meditation, but the average person rarely
understands what they are trying to teach. Why?
It is essentially because our break-neck speed running around to collect money and comforts does
not give us time to stop and think about minor routines like meditation and prayer. I can hear many
of the readers crying out, but prayer doesnt work. It is scientifically proven that it doesnt work.
How about I teach you a type of meditation that will work and bring you relaxation? Are you ready?
Lets get started.
So you have been out partying the night before, it was after all Friday night, and now you want to go
shopping with your best friend. You cant put away your plans and meditate all day like the nuns inthe monastery, its Christmas next week, for crying out loud. How can you put off shopping this
Saturday? And your mum is coming to visit you on Monday, so you also have to mark the evening for
a talk with your hubby, who doesnt have a clue.
If it was not for the health benefits of meditation, you wouldnt even have considered it, but all your
friends have been to expensive meditation retreats and tell you how fun it all is. First of all, a word of
caution: not all kinds of meditation lead to intense happiness. Some kinds of meditation can be
trance-inducing and generally undesirable if you have a Parents meeting at your childs school after
the session. People do get zoned out by meditation.
Nevertheless, meditation can help you lower your blood pressure and regulate your sleep patterns. Ihad a client who didnt sleep nights and after only two sessions, she was sleeping 9 hours every day!
So lets get started.
This particular kind of meditation is called Vajrayana Speculum Meditation. This intense form of
meditation involves looking deep into the mirror of the soul to gain insight about whats bothering
you in the Here and the Now.
The first thing you need is a yoga mat. In the east, they sit on bamboo mats for meditation. In the
middle east, they have carpets specially woven for prayers. Yours can come from Walmart, but make
sure that it is comfortable enough to sleep on on a warm day. Alternately, you can sit cross legged
on the sofa while meditating. Many schools and meditation retreats say that its okay to sit on a
chair to meditate, but if you are like me, your mind will tend to wander if you sit in the kitchen chair
and stare at the refrigerator door. So Lets just make it a little more exotic to pique your interest,
shall we?
You will also need a notebook or a journal to record your observations. Buy a really cheap one or an
exotic leather-bound one if it so pleases you.
You will have to sit in what we call a Lotus position. Flop down comfortably on the mat and try to sit
cross legged on it. Now place the foot of your right leg on your left thigh. This is called channelling
your boyish essence (right) into your girly essence (left). Dont worry about the terminology yet.
Some people call it yoni-lingum, yab-yum, or yin yang. It is all the same. The girly foot(left) on the
boyish thigh(right) and the boyish foot (right) on the girly thigh (left). This is called assuming the God
form.

Dont worry if you are not comfortable at first. The discomfort changes your soul and makes your
subconscious a fertile receptacle.
I bet you have a lot of questions at this point. If I am a girl, how is it that I have boyish parts? Or the
opposite, if I am a boy, how is it that I have girly parts? Actually you dont. But like a boy sending
sperm, your right hand and consequently right part of the body is always giving pleasure or pain toothers. Your left hand and consequently the left part of the body, on the other hand, is symbolically,
always receiving pleasure or pain from others. So when you put your left foot on the right thigh, you
consciously make an effort to pull in all the hurt and pain that you have received and use it to fuel
your inner strength through actively being compassionate and forgiving to all who caused it. When
you put your right foot on the left thigh, you use the hurt and pain you accidentally inflicted on
others to trigger your inner strength for receiving forgiveness from the Universe.
Take a couple of minutes to understand and internalize the deep meaning of the lotus position. You
have now taken in the sum of all your pleasure and pain, your negative and positive experiences and
have transformed it into inner strength. Visualize yourself smiling at everybody who has hurt you.
Then visualize being smiled at by everybody who was hurt by you.
Close your eyes. Repeat the Mantra, Uh OOH MUM, OM.
Now say to yourself, I see my experience. I internalize it. I understand it.And so is my world
complete.
Sit still and think about your experiences. You may not feel like forgiving everbody who has hurt
you. This is normal. You may also wish to quarrel with others. That is also normal.
At the end of ten minutes, open your eyes and record your experiences in a journal.
Try to meditate like this every week. At the end of the month, read everything that you have written
in the meditation journal.
Your entry could read like this.
Had murderous thoughts about my husband who has peed on the toilet seat yet again. Wanted to
scream at my baby for being so lachrymose this morning. Wanted to kill my sister who did not call
back after the message I left her on the answering machine. Etc.
As you can see, this shows you how angry you get over trivial matters. You love your husband and
you think your baby is the cutest person in the world, but sometimes you get so angry with them.
Reading the journal would exorcise this harsh and cruel aspect of your personality. In truth, it helps
you release the stress you carry around with you day in and day out. Releasing it will help lower yourblood pressure and make you look younger.
