Marriage, The Divine Ideal

Genesis 2:18-25

GOD PROVIDED A "H___________" FOR MAN.

Genesis 2:18

NO S_____________ HELPER WAS F_______

Genesis 2:20

Genesis 1:27

Genesis 2:21-22

Steve’s Stuff

Among my many jobs starting out was as a concrete masons helper. My tasks were mixing & delivering the mortar, along with the brick/blocks & generally helping do anything he wanted.

Surely, many have had similar jobs as a helper. Occasionally, these lead to a trade, profession or occupation. More often they are entry level jobs till the more

interesting is found.

In our society “entry level” or “helper “ jobs are not considered the most pleasant & are entered in order to step up the ladder to a more “Professional” pursuit.

This is unfortunate for when we see the word “helper” in other contexts there may be a stigma associated with it. Such may have been the case in Genesis 2 where God made a Helper for Adam.

Taking their que from societies use of the word, humans have often misused others solely based on this one description of the wife.

Marriage, like the word helper has become what society wants it to be. But this was not to be the case from the beginning. The husband & wife relationship in marriage has always been a mutual helping of one another.

Come along with us as we explore the Divine Ideal this Lord’s day & spend some time learning of the marriage relationship each Sunday evening in our Christian Marriage Skills Seminar. See you There

The Cracked Acorn

Color August 27, 2017 c.r. van arsdall

In the past I have mentioned it would be tough if you were green. I haven't seen any green people running around in the malls, maybe at Halloween time. Even Kermit the frog sang about the problems of ITS NOT EASY BEING GREEN-Having to spend each day the color of the leaves. When I think it would be nicer being red, or yellow or gold - or something much more colorful. It seems you blend in with so many ordinary things, and people tend to pass you over because you're not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water-or stars in the sky. Green can be cool and friendly-like. Green is big like the ocean, or important like a mountain, or tall like a tree. When green is all there it makes you wonder why, why? If you are green it will do fine. It's beautiful and it's what I want to be.

I noticed Kermit did not want to be blue!

It is a pleasing and calming color. It is the perfect tint of a clear blue sky. Looking upward you can see yourself zooming off into the blue. We wear lots of clothing in shades of blue. Uni-forms are sometimes blue. Sometime a thought can come to you "out of the blue." It can tell us someone has the "blues." A family of nobility is referred to as "blue-blooded." The Bible uses the word 50 times in reference to clothing. The nomadic Tuareg of the Sahara are often called the "blue people." Their clothing are deeply dyed with natural indigo. It is absorbed into the skin and give them a blue tinge. Babies are sometimes born with blue skin because of the indigo in their mothers' blood. (S. Thompson- internet)

In the 1800s, there was a family group in the Kentucky mountains that had a rare blood problem called methemoglobinemia referred to as met-H. The family members had a bluish cast because of reduced oxygen in the blood. Samples of their blood looked like a chocolate drink. Most of the members lived into their 80s without any serious medical problems, suggesting blue definitely will not shorten your life span. It was painful for these mountain people and they avoided clinics and hospitals. It was discovered an enzyme deficiency was the culprit

and cured by methylene blue tablets. One doctor's comment was within a few minutes the blue color was gone and for the first time in these peoples lives, they were pink. Today, with a larger population, more roads and better jobs, the blue people are hard to find. There may be some among us, but who is looking!!

ABOVE THE BRIGHT BLUE-There's a beautiful place called heaven. It is hid-den above the bright blue, Where the

good, who from earth-ties are riven, Live and love an eternity thro' This land of sweet rest awaits us, Some day it will break on our view, "Tis promised by Christ the Redeemer, To His followers faithful and true. Above the bright blue, the beautiful blue, Jesus is waiting for me and for you; heaven is there, not far from our sight, beautiful city of light. (hymn lyrics from SACRED SELECTIONS)

(We now leave the blue people of Troublesome Creek, remembering the words of Nurse Pendergrass, "They were poor people, but they were good people." from the Kentucky Journal of Clinical Investigation, 1960)

Blue is applied to the

fringes, veil, vestments,

embroideries, etc., in the

description of the ark and

tabernacle to workers in

blue, palace adornments

Husbands and wife’s relationship, differ say, from the family and friend relationship. It is a
