4rd BioHorizon Training for BIO NCPs
THE EIC INSTRUMENTS FOR INNOVATION Technicalities and success cases for a better assistance in the
Bioeconomy sector
Date: 22nd November 2018
Location: Albert Borschette Congress Center (CCAB), Bruxelles Focus: The training is dedicated to the Bio-NCPs. It aims at guiding the NCPs on
the EIC pilot in Horizon 2020, providing an overview on its instruments (FET
Open, SME Instrument, Fast Track to Innovation, Prize) and success cases in the
Bioeconomy context.
BioHorizon is the National Contact Points (NCPs) Network project for the Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 2 (SC2) “Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine, Maritime and Inland Water Research and the Bioeconomy”. The project aims to align and enhance the services that NCPs provide to potential beneficiaries of European funding in the SC2 areas across Europe and worldwide, also through the organization of trainings and workshops dedicated to them (http://www.ncp-biohorizon.net/).

AIM
The training will facilitate a view exchange among the NCPs and the EIC experts on how to
better target, inform and support European actors in bioeconomy field interested in the EIC
instruments.
The objectives are:
- Describe how the EIC funding schemes and accompanying measures, launched under
the current Pilot, can enhance the emergence and rapid scale-up of highly innovative
enterprises in the bioeconomy field.
- Involve bioeconomy real success cases funded under the EIC instruments in sharing
their experience and best practices in winning projects
- Enhance discussion on how the NCPs can further contribute in assisting H2020
applicants in that field
- Raise awareness on what the other NCPs networks have currently developed within
the context of the EIC Pilot in terms of tools and services for applicants.
- Encourage the interaction and the exchange of competencies and experiences among
the NCPs

TARGET GROUP
National Contact Points for Horizon 2020 - Societal Challenge 2 on “Food security, Sustainable Agriculture, Marine and Maritime Research and the Bioeconomy” + “KET – Biotechnology”. The training is open to all the BIO NCPs (including ICPC NCPs and NCP not involved in the BioHorizon project). The maximum number of NCPs can be reimbursed by the APRE is 24 (on a first come first served basis). More details in the guidelinefor Bio NCPs.

Alphabet game1 - at the beginning of each thematic session the class will be divided in two or more groups and in order to map the background knowledge of the participants. This game is preparatory for better target the expert presentation to the real needs and knowledge of NCPs
Interactive discussion between NCPs and Coordinators/experts – at the end of the first day is foreseen a session for discussing practical tips and suggestions based on coordinators’ inputs for improving NCPs assistance in EIC proposals. The discussion will be based on the main points coming from the presentations of the success cases for each EIC instruments. A rapporteur from the BioHorizon consortium will sum up the main topics from the success cases presentation in a flipchart. These hints will be the base for the discussion between NCps and coordinators/experts.
