This past Sunday when Jerry Pagel announced the Search Committee had recommended, and the Church Council had ap-proved their decision, that I be presented to the congregation as your next settled minister, I was filled with joy and a sense of awe for the trust that all placed in the Search Committee and in me. As I await the vote on May 8 I humbled by the responsibili-ties of ordained ministry, the possibilities for ministry in Chil-ton, and the privilege of serving you in the years to come. I urge everyone to go home and be in prayer about this decision. I will pray for each of you that you may be led by the Holy Spirit to reach a decision that is best for the health and life of the church. Should the vote be for me to be your minister, I will be filled with happiness. Should the vote be to continue the search, I will once again help the Search Committee in all ways that I am able. The Search Committee should be in your prayers for the work they have done in the past few years. When they began the serious work of gathering information needed for the church profile, they discovered the task before them would not
be simple and would require working with the Associate Conference Minister and the Interim Minister. During the time of gathering i n f o r m a t i o n t h e A s s o c i a t e Conference Minister retired, an interim was hired to replace them and finally a new Associate Conference Minister was insta l led . The committee worked with not one but two interim ministers here at Ebenezer. Adding to their work, the church had to navigate a crisis when the parsonage was severely damaged by broken water pipes in the middle of a harsh winter. Finally, the time for reading ministerial profiles arrived and the task became reading and praying, reading and praying, meeting and discussing. I believe they read many dozens of profiles from candidates from several states. Cont. on pg. 3

NOTES FROM THE MUSIC CORNER . . .
By Elaine Hessil
Since the month of May has five Sundays, the Ebenezer Brass will be altering their usual schedule of ringing on the 2nd and 4th Sundays to ringing 1st ,3rd and 5th Sundays. This gives the opportunity to ring for communion, May 1; for confirmation & Pentecost, May 15 and Me-morial Day, May 29. It is a special privilege to have Krysta Roehrig as a flute accompaniment for the confirmation selection. We’re always welcome to instrumentalists adding their talents!!! As per the Rusch family request, Don Pingel, will sing a special solo, “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less” in honor of Nancy Rusch’s birthday. Happy Birthday Nancy – thank you for your many years of singing in the Chancel Choir and for all your dedication to Ebenezer! Thank to Don for providing the tribute. With an eye toward summer, it is always great to have special music for worship. If you have the ability to provide keyboard, instrumen-tal or vocal selections please contact Pastor or Elaine.
To be selected to serve on a Search and Call Committee is one of the most honored ways for which a member can serve. The congregation gives an enor-mous responsibility to the men and women and all who work for the committee. This Search Com-mittee has served the members of Ebenezer faithfully and well throughout its time. Please thank them for their hard work. I pray that should I be called on May 8, I can serve you and God faithfully and proclaim the Gospel as best I can.
Peace and Grace, Pastor Mike

GRADUATING ?
Are you graduating or know anyone graduating? Please notify Pastor or Heather. We would like to honor graduates for baccalaureate Sunday on June 5. Also, if you are graduating, please stop in at the office for an application for the Jim Pagel Memorial Scholarship. It is open to graduating high school seniors who are mem-bers of the church and going on to any higher education. It is in memory of Jim Pagel, a son of Ebenezer who passed away in 1997.
RUMMAGE SALE THANKS
By Elaine Hessil
A ‘shout out’ to all the hard work the mission committee put in for the rummage sale. They put in hours hauling, organizing, pricing, packing, and being there for the sale. It is truly amazing all the stuff that accumulates!!! “One person’s junk is another person’s treasure” but it sure takes a lot of work to get it transitioned!!!!!! Thank you to committee members Jean Keuler, Janet Andrews, Ruth Aebisher, Nan Popp, Stephanie Adamietz plus extra helpers Casey Stephenson, Bea & Dean Pingel, Steve Keuler and Rosemary Daun.
Happy Birthday

Special Congregational
Meeting
There will be a Congregational Meeting Sunday, May 8 after service. The purpose is to extend a call to Rev. Michael Safford-Kennedy to be the settled minister at Ebenezer. Pastor Mike has been serving us as an in-terim minister since July 2013. We need a minimum of 54 members to achieve a quorum. We look forward to your attendance at this important meeting. We know there are many events that Sunday however, we need you to attend the service and cast your vote. The service will be kept to 45 minutes to accommodate the meeting. Please plan to attend this critical moment in the history of the church.

Confirmation Sunday
by Rev. Michael Safford-Kennedy
Please join in worship on May 15 as we welcome Alexis Hardrath, Saman-tha Mitchell, Callie Woelfel, and Krysta Roehrig into full membership through confirmation. These young women are a blessing to their families, friends, and now the church. I have been blessed to have them in confirmation class. They are wonderful people. Join us as we celebrate with them.
The Rummage Sale is over for another
year and everything in the Fellowship Hall is
back to normal! We would like to thank every-
one who donated items and all of the mem-
bers who worked at the sale. We couldn't do it
without your contributions. We made a total
of $940.26 for Missions!!

MEMBER OF THE MONTH
We are starting a new feature in the Eagle to help everyone get to know the members of Ebenezer Church. So often we hear, "I know the face but don't know who they are." This col-umn will allow us to get to know a little about each other. Please consider sharing your interests, hobbies, families and current/former occupations with the congregation. Lifelong mem-bers and new members alike would like to get to know a little more about you. If you would like to be the next "Member of the Month" please let the office or Kelly Brown ([email protected]) know, or we may be contacting you soon!
Hi, my name is Jamie Plate. My husband Eric, our 2 children Kaleb (9) and Aubrey (6), and myself are new members of Ebenezer. We officially joined in February of this year, but have been attending Sunday School and services for over 3 years now. Previous to joining Ebenezer, we were mem-bers of Christ the King in Sherwood. We originally were attracted to Ebenezer due to the ease of get-ting our children to Sunday School, but soon found
ourselves enjoying what was being taught here. And to think it has always been in our backyard this whole time! We are excited to be a part of Ebenezer, and have always felt welcome; for that we say “thank you.” I was born and raised in Chilton. After graduating from Chilton, I went to college in Milwaukee where I graduated with a nursing degree. After graduation, I began working at St. Agnes Hospital on the Surgical and Pediatrics Floor. After the birth of our son Kaleb, I changed positions and began working on the clinic side of the hospital which allowed me the opportunity to spend more time with our family. Eric also attended Chilton High School. After graduation he worked various general labor jobs before attending Fox Valley Technical College and graduating in 2012. He is currently the Safety Manager at JBS (formerly Packerland Packing), and has been working there for almost 4 years. Eric and I have been married for 12 years now and we reside in Chilton where Kaleb and Aubrey attend Chilton Elementary School. We enjoy spending time outdoors, and being with friends. We especially enjoy the trips we get to take to the U.P. where my parents own a cabin on a chain of lakes, where we can relax on the pontoon boat and go swimming as we please! We feel very fortunate to be a part of the community
here at Ebenezer, and would again like to thank everyone
for making us feel so welcome.

Northeast Association Annual Meeting
by Rev. Michael Safford-Kennedy
Don Waldvogel and I attended the Northeast Association Annual Meet-ing at Bethlehem UCC on April 16. It was good for each of us to renew friendships and meet with colleagues. The Association presented Ebenezer a $2,000 check as seed money for our technical upgrades to the church. The support of the Association of our ministry efforts is greatly appreciated. The theme for the meeting was “Shift from Maintenance to Mission.” As the needs of society change and the culture changes we find the places where the church can most faithfully carry out its mission is to be in mission with our neighbors both locally and globally. To serve our community we need to look for ideas that will bring the love of Christ in big and small ways. Here at Ebenezer we have already begun to approach ministry with a wider view than just our members. Ebenezer is ahead of the curve in our thinking. Please keep the Association and our local churches in your prayers as we live into a new future filled with un-knowns and with innumerable possibili-ties to do good for Christ.
Summer Fun with Camp
By Stephanie Adamietz
School is almost done, as well as Sunday
School. So we will have warm weather (well I
hope) and long sunny nights. Have you ever
thought about going to a summer camp? The best
part of the UCC camps is they are not only for
kids. There are so many options available from
family camp weeks or weekends to kids camps for
all ages to women's or men's get-a-ways. There is a
camp for everyone.
I had my first camp experience when i was
in middle school with a couple friends. I was afraid
to leave my parents for a week but I knew it would
be a fun time. Well it was amazing! I loved the
crafts, getting to go swimming and getting to meet
new friends. I have to admit the bonfire at night
was very moving. My first year I was leery but I
listened to the stories of kids who were going
through different things and how God has helped
them. I came home from camp humming bible
songs and a greater understanding and love for our
church. I returned the second year after a tough
middle school year and found out how God really
was there for me.
Camp is a great experience for any kid or
adult. Try it out this year there is still time to sign
up. Scholarships are available for everyone who
wants to go. Please hand in your scholarship form
to the office or stick it in my mailbox in the office.
Everyone will get a scholarship. So what's to lose?
Take a break, relax, have some fun and maybe
grow a little closer to God. Life is so busy.
The UCC camps are Moon Beach and
Pilgrim Center. If you need help or have questions
please call me... 920-645-8707 or email me at
