Camp Flutter-By, as the day-camp was called, was organized and run by the Weimar Junior Girl Scout Troop 715 as part of earning their Bronze Award- the highest award given to Girl Scouts between the ages of 8 and 11. This award requires the Girl Scout to learn the leadership and planning skills necessary to follow through on a project that makes a positive impact on her community. And they surely made a positive im- pact on the Brownies and their lead- ers! The day was full of activities fo- cusing on nature and the outdoors. The Juniors led the Brownies (age 6 thro- ugh 9) on a hike, through a multitude of crafts and games and performed sk- its and educational lectures covering such topics as the lifestyle of bald eag- les and how to erect a shelter. By participating in the activities, the Brownies earned three Try-It badges and an event patch to wear proudly on their vest or sash. Many thanks to Weimar Junior Troop 715 and their leaders for a fabu- lous day out on the ranch! 3 Simple questions, "Is it a Stroke?" Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to rec- ognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions: Ask the individual to smile. Ask him or her to raise both arms. Ask the person to speak a simple sentence. If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dis- patcher. After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could iden- tify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three ques- tions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Wide- spread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the . stroke and prevent brain damage. A cardiologist says if 10 people read this news item, you can bet that at least one life will be saved. Study Club headed to see Texas wildflowers The Study Club field trip is going to be great and it will help celebrate the season of spring and the blooming of the beautiful Texas wildflowers. The field trip will take place Wednesday, April 13 and will take them on a bus to Brenham and beyond. The Study Club will meet at the Wintermann Library at 9:15 a.m. with plans to leave at 9:30. The trip to Bren- ham is about an hour by car - we will carpool from Eagle Lake to Brenham. In Brenham the Study Club will enjoy lunch at a darling restaurant called "A Little Bit of Heaven" - sandwiches, salads, quiche and great desserts. After lunch, and probably before, the Study Club can browse in the great shops on or near the Brenham square. At this point the Study Club can stay in Brenham or go a little further to the Antique Rose Emporium in the historic community of Independence. The Rose Emporium is a fantastic place with outstanding displays of specimen roses (and roses to buy) and other plants for the garden. It's just a beautiful setting with all the flower dis- plays and the many buildings and amenities at the facility. If you haven't been there, this will certainly be an experience you will want to repeat. At Independence and all along the route to Brenham and back, the wild- flowers, hopefully will be blooming at their finest. CCAA Continued from Page 4 asset to the community. Eagle Lake Brownie Troop attend Weimar Girl Scout Day Camp

On a beautiful but blustery Satur- day, members of Eagle Lake Brownie Troop 6001 attended an all-day Girl Scout Brownie Day Camp at the Lazy A Camp just south of Weimar.

And they surely made a positive im-

pact on the Brownies and their lead- ers!

3 Simple questions, "Is it a Stroke?"

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to rec- ognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

Ask the individual to smile. Ask him or her to raise both arms. Ask the person to speak a simple

sentence. If he or she has trouble with any of

these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and

describe the symptoms to the dis- patcher. After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could iden- tify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three ques- tions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Wide- spread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the

. stroke and prevent brain damage. A cardiologist says if 10 people read

this news item, you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
