1. Call your unit to the fl oor landing. Once there, open the hoistway door. Add the required weight in the unit as needed for your specifi c test.
2. Manually move/pendant the unit up or down as needed. Be sure that the unit is up high enough so you are able to reach into the hoistway, either through the hoistway fl oor landing opening or through the access door (if available) on the lowest fl oor landing.
3. Place the drop rig beneath the unit with the yellow locking latch facing toward the opening of the hoistway. Locate a strong and sturdy surface for the drop rig to be propped up on. Try to keep an even weight distribution on post.
Note: Try to prevent damage to the unit with the drop rig’s location by thinking about how the drop rig will be removed.
4. Lower the unit onto the drop rig to hold in place. Securely tie the tie-off rope to the bottom of the unit. Verify the drop rig is vertical.
5. Flip the yellow locking latch up into the locked position making the drop rig rigid.
6. Route the pull rope up and over the top of the yellow locking latch so when pulled the latch will fl ip down. Route pull rope end out of hoistway.
Note: Use caution not to accidentally pull the pull rope unlock the yellow locking latch and/or buckle drop rig.

Drop Rig Safeties Test
7. Verify the hoistway is clear of any obstruction. Once the hoist way is clear continue lowering the unit down to slack the units wire rope(s). Stand back from the hoistway opening or access door. Verify that everyone is at a safe distance.
8. Lightly tug on the pull rope to unlock the yellow safety latch. Then simulate a broken rope by pulling hard on the pull rope making the drop rig buckle from under the unit.
9. Verify rope(s) are still slacked and that the unit is resting on its safeties. Also, verify nothing has been damaged during the safety test.
10. Verify that both safeties have dug into the rails. If not, make the necessary adjustments to the safeties by referencing the installation manual. Re-test if needed.
11. Once both safeties have dug into the rail and the safety test was a success, manually move/pendant the unit “UP” far enough to lift the units off the safeties.
12. Ensure the following:• Wire ropes did not come out of the drum/sheave
groove(s).• The magnet placement was not aff ected.• The safety dogs have retracted and are not
damaged.• The wire ropes are of equal tension.
13. Reach into the hoistway, untie the drop rig, and remove the drop rig from the hoistway .
14. Reset the slack cable switch assembly.
15. Manually run/pendant the unit up and down past the location where the safeties dug into the rail. Verify there is not any new or unusual noise coming from the safety test location and/ or the safeties w get hung up on the set points. If there is noise and/or safeties get hung up, remove the high spots from the rail. Repeat this step until the unit is running quiet and freely.
16. Run the unit to the fl oor landing where you want to unload all test weights if used. Close all gates and hoistway doors that may be open.
17. Verify unit operates properly.Hoistway wall not shown for clarity
