The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game Prototype History It has become a bit of a tradition now that I create the history of the new game’s evolution as part of the Kickstarter. This time around, the game design process was so long that I don’t remember every phase of it with complete clarity. I don’t even entirely remember what I was thinking in some cases. However, I will do my best. Early Fumbling Around One thing all these early prototypes have in common is that you won’t see Dresden Files theming on them. At this point, we did not have a contract to do a DF game, so we didn’t want internet chatter about the possibility. I originally had some ideas about how to do a Dresden Files game, that all went out the window when Fred and Chris told me they wanted it to be a cooperative game. So there were a few months of fumbling in the dark, trying to get an idea for a core mechanic to build a game around. I made a lot of false starts that either did not work, or were too derivative. The above image is one of them, although I don’t remember exactly what was wrong with it. Here are some others below. Don’t ask me what I was thinking, because I don’t know man. I’m not sure I’ll ever get over Macho Grande…
