    IITF 2012 BUSINESS ACROSS BOUNDARIES

    India Trade Promotion Organization is organizing the 31st edition of its

    popular annual event, the India International Trade Fair, in Pragati Maidan,New Delhi from November 14 to 27, 2011.

    This is the largest integrated trade fair with business to business and businessto consumer components. It presents a complete range of products fromdiverse sectors from major manufacturers, small and medium enterprises aswell as craftsmen & artisans in a single platform. It has a large participation

    of international exhibitors. It is one of the largest trade fairs in the worldboth in terms of exhibitors and visitors participation and has evolved its

    unique character as an iconic national event. The venue of the Fair is PragatiMaidan, the largest fair complex in the country located in the heart of the

    National Capital Territory of Delhi with excellent communicationinfrastructure through road, rail and metro. The unique feature of the Fair is

    the participation by different States and Union Territories through their own Pavilions or throughdedicated areas for joint participation in separate halls. A variety of cultural programmes covering awide spectrum of the rich cultural heritage of India is also an integral part of the Fair. Large number of

    food and beverage outlets provide a taste of varied cuisines of the country and the world. It provides agreat platform for trade and industry for sourcing, supply, business interactions, technology transfer

    opportunities, test marketing and market access.

    In the recent years, IITF has been giving greater focus on business orientation. To this end, dedicatedbusiness visitors facilities have been created with an international business lounge, online registrationfacilities, arrangements for B2B meetings, opportunities for participation in business forums. This has

    been given a major impetus in the last edition in 2010 by earmarking the first five days of the Fair forbusiness visitors. This arrangement will continue during IITF 2011.

    Information about IITF 2011 India International Trade

    Fair IITF

    Delhi, being the capital of India is the venue for a number of trade fairs andexhibitions for both consumersand the business community. However, the one trade fair which surpasses all others in terms of importance,

    magnitude and participation is the India International Trade Fair (IITF) which is held at Pragati Maidan in

    New Delhi. A yearly feature in Delhi's events calendar, IITF will be celebrating its successful 31st run in the

    Indian Capital and will be held between 14th-27th November 2011. Organized by Indian Government's

    nodal trade promotional agency India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), IITF has had a history spanning

    more than two decades. Ever since its inception in 1980, the trade fair has proved to be a major crowd

    pullers for consumers as well as traders, manufacturers, exporters and importers.

    This year too, IITF promises to be a mega event and the organizers are leaving no stone unturned in making

    it a success. As usual the Trade Fair will take place within Pragati Maidan premises. According to the

    organizers ofIITF 2011, this trade fair aims at providing a platform for Indian manufacturers and traders to

    showcase their products; it also works as an excellent means of showcasing India's technological

    advancement and industrial progress. Over the years, IITF has become Asia's largest trade show of its kind,and the Indian economy can only be thankful for the revenues the trade fair generates for the industry and

    manufacturers. The trade fair actually serves twin purposes. One, it draws interest from global buyers and

    investors who consider India a fast developing and worthy global trade destination. Two, it emphasizes that

    the breed of Indian consumer is ever-growing, and that their potential is yet untapped.

    Apart from showcasing their wares for the global buyer, IITF also showcases the technological and industrial

    growth taking place in the different states and union territories of India. Each participating state or unionterritory is assigned its own pavilion, where they can exhibit the twin spectrum of goods ethnic to theirculture, as well as services which cater to a global audience. This year, 29 States and Union Territories ofIndia will be participating in the trade fair, apart from the many PSU's, government ministries and theprivate sector. When it comes it International Participation, about 33 countries will be participating in IITFthis year. For the 2011 Trade Fair, ITPO will be partnered by Jharkhand & West Bengal; the focusstates for the show this year are Bihar & Orissa.

    Every year IITF has a theme which is given special impetus during the trade show. For the year 2011, thetheme is "Indian Handicrafts the Magic of Gifted Hands". (The last year themewas clean &EnergyEfficient Technology. This year an estimated 7500 exhibitors will be participating inthe India International Trade Fair. The roster of exhibit profile provides an exhaustive list with everythingfrom textiles, garments, household & kitchen appliances, and processed food on display. Amongst productsfor personal use, jewellery, cosmetics, body care & healthcare products make it to the list. For hardcore B2Bsector, Telecommunications, Power, Electronic and Engineering Goods would also be exhibited at the show.

    The trade fair will be on between the 14th and 27th of November at Pragati Maidan.
