Presidents Press
As I menoned last month it has been suggested that meengs at the school
be held every second month. The commi(ee discussed this on Feb 25th
but
have not yet reached a decision. I have had very li(le feedback from the
general membership and can only assume that no one cares if we meet or
not. Before vong we will discuss this at the March meeng so come along
and have your say or call me beforehand. I expect six formal meengs per
year to be held at the school in February, April, June, July (AGM),
September, and November. Addional meengs for any pressing ma(ers
can be held on the other months during a club run should the need occur.
I have just returned from Ballarat having a(ended the swap meet with Ian
Mann and four other devotees and I don’t think any of us found anything
spectacular but we all enjoyed the atmosphere and we all have sore legs. At
least I do. I’m not used to 12.5 km strolls two days in a row followed by a 10
hour drive home. Sll we all resolved to be back next year searching for that
elusive part, cha3ng and having a good me.
Show ‘n’ Shine trophies should be returned by the March meeng. Then you
can start polishing up the Ausn ready for showing on April 26th
.
March is our annual Ladies Day oung and this year we are going to Mt
Annan Botanic Gardens then lunching at a nearby hotel. Gentlemen, please
bring your wife or girlfriend along. (Hint: don’t bring both if you wish to
enjoy the day)
Keep on Ausneering

My Say….. Well, just when I thought the A105 was all fixed, there was a major leaking
of gearbox oil all over the floor of the garage! It didn’t happen overnight,
but it did happen!! Consequently, it is now at the repairers so we’re in the
modern for a couple of runs.
The Observaon run was a great day—it’s always nice
to wander round a couple of cemeteries trying to find
all the Halls/Bulls/Liddles etc.
The March Ladies Day run should be good—I’m look-
ing forward to seeing all the flowers at Mt Annan.
Remember to let Ron know if you are going on this
run so that he can book tables at Ambarvale Hotel for
lunch.
Ian & Janelle Mann are doing the Memory Walk again this year—see page
10 for how you can help. Ann Davis
The Cemetery Observaon Run—Sunday 23rd February 2020 We started at McDonalds (where else?!) at Bligh Park for breakfast. The
first stop was the small cemetery on Church St in Windsor and Ron handed
out his first set of quesons.
So, what are we
looking for??
![Page 6: The DependerThe DependerThe Depender -the official magazine of the Austin Motor Vehicle Club NSW Inc 6 Some of the graves were looking very neglected and the wring was hard to read,](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022081400/609d8dbf991c0142d014d7ee/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)

Some of the graves were looking very neglected and the wring was hard to
read, but I think everyone found answers—maybe not the correct ones
though! Ron was there to point us in the right direcon if we looked lost!
When we’d finished there, it was a short drive to the Catholic Cemetery on
the corner of Macquarie St in Windsor. This was bigger than the first one,
so it took us longer to find all the answers. It was a good job they had cut
most of the grass recently otherwise we would have had wet legs/trousers.
Some of the headstones here were old, but there was a beauful rose bush
growing next to one.
![Page 7: The DependerThe DependerThe Depender -the official magazine of the Austin Motor Vehicle Club NSW Inc 6 Some of the graves were looking very neglected and the wring was hard to read,](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022081400/609d8dbf991c0142d014d7ee/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)

We had morning tea in the park across the road from the cemetery, watch-
ing the corellas and a heron around the li(le lake.
AGer morning tea we were off to our
3rd
cem-
etery,
where we were given another set of ques-
ons.
Now what am I
looking for
again?!
At the end of the aGernoon, we were
treated to Devonshire Teas by Tony H
& Karen. Thank you. And thanks to
Ron for organising the day. AD

• Tony G—the school has accepted the dates of our meetings. • David D suggested only having a formal meeting every 2 months as attend-
ance is very poor. The committee will consider this but it was decided tonight to cancel the formal February meeting at the school (due to 2 or 3 committee absences) and have an informal meeting on the observation run.
• Eastern Creek Tickets must be ordered now—names and payment to Ann. Lucky Door Prize—Tony Hordern. Meeting closed at 8.42pm

Precis of the Minutes of the CMC Meeng held on 28th January 2020
NATIONAL MOTORING HERITAGE DAY – 17th May 2020 The 2020 event
would be run at the same venues as in 2019.
SHANNONS SYDNEY CLASSIC– 16th August 2020
Tony O’Donnell reported on new parking availability.
Area A – less space and will have a limit of 24 cars per Club. Other areas re-
main the same although in Area D spaces might be pushed up the hill as this
seemed to be a favoured space last year.
Beginning this year, the entrance fee will be $25, which will include a $5 do-
naon to the Prostate Cancer Foundaon. There will be no raffle.
LOGBOOK SCHEME. Meengs had been held within Transport NSW to re-
view the logbook scheme. Expected announcements in March 2020.
There had been some other discussions on pu3ng the hard copy logbooks
onto smart phone apps. The latest development on Road Safety was to con-
centrate on ‘low level speeding’ which might be of concern to members.
CVS REGISTRATIONS. T Thompson advised that the latest (28/01/2020) CVS
registraons were 4,094.
It was noted that 29 Clubs had sll not affiliated including 9 Clubs with CVS
vehicles in these unaffiliated clubs which were then technically un-
registered.
AFFILIATION. Pending applicaons for affiliaon from My Car Club, Early
Times Car and Motorcycle Club (with 20 cars and 2 motorcycles), The Vin-
cent HRD Owners Club and BMW Drivers Club, all four Clubs are on HVS.
NRMA . Bob Adby reported on the survey of member Clubs responding to
the NRMA offer of a 25 % discount on roadside assistance subscripons – 10
to 20 Clubs had offered opinions. These varied widely from Club to Club
ranging from 10 to 90% assenng. In his last meeng with NRMA he was
nofied that the scheme was acceptable and would be aconed as early to
mid February 2020.
The mechanisms by which the discount will be offered or be operaonal are
unclear as the NRMA has not entered into discussions with the CMC on just
how the system will be implemented. The sub-commi(ee will connue to
lobby for a form of “driver cover” to be offered.

Dementia Australia’s Memory Walk & Jog 2020
Remember what you did last week or last year, your partners name or even that you have a partner of 40 years or that you have children? Well, some people can’t!! An estimated 459,000 Australians are living with dementia, which is Australia’s leading cause of death in women and third leading cause of death in men. 250 people a day receive a confirmed diagnosis of a dementia illness. Currently 27,247 people have early onset dementia, 1 in 10 people over 65 and 3 in 10 people over 85 have a dementia illness. In NSW there are 149,250 living with a diagnosed dementia and there is no cure. Janelle and I are again seeking your support to raise funds for the care and treatment of people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias and hopefully to eventually find a cure. We will be participating in the 8klm walk, at Tench Reserve, Penrith on Sunday April 5. To help, you can go to one of these links and make a donation to either of us. https://www.memorywalk.com.au/fundraisers/IanMann609/western-sydney https://www.memorywalk.com.au/fundraisers/janellemann/western-sydney We can also take your donations manually or you can transfer your dona-tion to an account I have set up which is; “ID Mann On A Mission” (Acct# 100266846 BSB 802 084) at Syd-ney Mutual Bank. Please include your name so we know who it’s from and send us an email with your details for a receipt. Our team is “Mann on a Mission”. If you want to join our team and get active while helping others contact Janelle via her email below. Even at a casual pace you will be finished before 11am and the rest of the day is yours. Alternatively you can register to participate yourselves at any of the events Australia wide or create your own by following this last link. https://www.memorywalk.com.au/find-an-event Thank you for your support Ian & Janelle Mann 02 9894 0420 [email protected] [email protected]
