Educational Excellence

Committee

Hello ladies! I am excited to report that our first round of sales with the Bead For Life program brought in $733 to go to the women and children of Uganda! We will be featuring this jewelry at our meeting on Oct 2 at the High Point Public Library and I will also have several more sales at my home before Christmas. GTCC will also be hosting Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, author of A School for My Village, on November 7, 2012 at noon in Koury Auditorium on the Jamestown Campus. I still have 2 copies of the book if you are interested in reading it. Mr. Kaguri will also be at the library in downtown Greensboro on November 7, 2012 at 7pm. Our website is really taking shape. If there is anything that you would like added to the website just let me know. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Oct. 2 meeting.

Beginning Teacher Support Chi members donated many school supplies to beginning teachers during the month of September. Items included office supplies, such as pens, pencils, notebook paper, post it notes, as well as teacher oriented goodies like stickers, bulletin board items and certificates. The new teachers were very appreciative to receive these items. Thanks to GTCC for donating shoulder totes for these teachers and to the members that contributed to the supplies. Bags were distributed to the following local schools: The Academy at Lincoln, Thomasville Primary, Central High School, and Oakview, Montlieu, and Trinity Elementary Schools.
