We are proud to be supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation in the Northern Territory and treasure the incredible support that we receive from our local

Not only has the Darwin Star Ball established itself as one of the premier entertainment events on Darwin’s social calendar, we have now raised over $2.35

million dollars for the Starlight Children’s Foundation in the NT.

With help from the funds raised by the Darwin Star Ball, Captain Starlight is now able to entertain children in the Starlight Express Room at Royal Darwin Hospital seven days

a week, visit over 51 remote communities to help improve attendance at health clinics and have a permanent presence in Alice Springs.

Skin – Arafura Sea draws its inspiration from the clash of the ever-shifting shades of blues of the ocean and the unique reds and pinks of the sunset off the coast of Fannie Bay.

At first glance the viewer is naturally drawn to the work by the vibrant and bold shades of reds against the crystal blues. Then slowly the underlying texture becomes visible, almost dancing across the canvas portraying the oceans personality. Shifting tides, rough winds, sand bars, strength and the abundance of creatures that live beneath, the salt water crocodile is one of these.

Sophia Paspaley was born into the pearling industry. At 20 years old, she is the youngest child of Nick Paspaley - the pearler. Growing up, she spent a lot of time working at sea with her father on pearling ships. This is also how she chose to spend her school holidays. It was no surprise that after completing her education in England, Sophia returned home to the pearling industry. Her passion for pearling extended to jewellery design and manufacture, which she then decided to pursue at the family’s jewellery atelier.

Since being exposed to the jewellery industry at a young age, Sophia continues to explore the international world of fine jewellery. Place Vendôme, in the heart of Paris, is where she was introduced to the art of gouaché rendering by the masters at Van Cleef & Arpels. Some of her earliest memories are of the Jewellery & Gemstone Fair in Hong Kong, where she still frequents today to hand select gemstones that she uses in her pieces.

Sophia is passionate about jewellery and design. As well as working in the family business as a designer and jeweller, Sophia has been establishing her own brand of exclusive, fine handmade jewellery that reflects the fresh new look of her millennial generation. She was born in Darwin and Darwin is the place where she chooses to create these exclusive pieces, which she then sells to her customers all over the world.

Hello Healthier Futures

Through Starlight’s Healthier Futures Initiative, Captain Starlight partners with health professionals to visit clinics in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Captain Starlight entertains and distracts kids during their clinic check-ups helping to boost attendance rates and enhance community confidence in the healthcare system.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were thrilled to expand this initiative and in 2018, Captain Starlight delivered an amazing 600 Starlight Experiences every month on Healthier Futures trips in the Northern Territory.

Starlight Express Room

For sick kids in the Royal Darwin Hospital, the Starlight Express Room is an amazing fun-filled space for them to take a break from treatment. From celebrity visitors, to arts and crafts and all the latest gaming, the Starlight Express Room is a haven of happiness for sick kids and their families.

In Alice Springs Hospital, the shiny new Starlight Play Space is giving sick kids a happy place to laugh and play and just be kids.

Last year there were over 8,000 Starlight Express Room visits at the Royal Darwin Hospital and Alice Springs Hospital.

Kids who are too sick to come to the Starlight Express Room don’t miss out on the fun. Captain Starlight visits them on the wards throughout the hospital and makes over 400 fun-filled ‘Rocket Rounds’ every month.

Here in the Northern Territory, Starlight supporters bring the gift of fun and laughter helping to create brighter and healthier futures for kids, families and communities.

MAIN AUCTION

1. The auctioneer may nominate an undisclosed reserve price and the minimum amount for each bid, which shall be binding upon the bidder.

2. The auctioneer may refer to pre-bids to commence the auction of each item.

3. The final bidder accepted as such by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser who shall pay for the goods.

4. If a dispute arises during or at the close of bidding, the auctioneer may immediately determine the dispute or may at his discretion re-submit the goods in that lot for further bidding or withdraw those goods from sale.

SILENT AUCTION

1. The Silent Auction shall open and close at the times outlined by the Star Ball Committee or such other times that the Star Ball Committee in its absolute discretion may nominate.

2. Bids should not be made before or after the opening or closing of the Silent Auction and may not be accepted as valid bids for this or for any other reason.

3. Each bid increase must be at least that of the increment specified on the bidding system pertaining to each individual item.

4. Bidders may bid as many times as they wish and must use the Givergy tablet to place their bid.

5. The successful person shall be the person who is nominated by the Star Ball Committee and they shall purchase the goods identified on the Givergy bidding system.

CONDITIONS OF SALE

1. The Star Ball Committee makes no representation and gives no warranty to the purchaser in relation to any items offered for auction or sale including their quality, authenticity or fitness for purpose specified.

2. The purchaser shall pay for their goods prior to the conclusion of the Star Ball Darwin function by cash or by authorized credit card. The Star ball Committee may accept a cheque from a purchaser and if requested, satisfactory identification must be provided.

3. Title to any goods sold shall not pass to the purchaser until payment in full is received and if a cheque is tendered, until funds are cleared in full.

4. Purchased goods are at the risk and expense of the purchaser from the time of acceptance of their successful bid.

5. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to store and to collect purchased goods within the notified deadline. The Star Ball Committee is under no obligation to store or to deliver purchased goods but if it does so, the purchaser releases The Star Ball Committee from any responsibility or obligation and from all liability.

6. In the event that the Star Ball Committee assists a purchaser regarding delivery of purchased goods, the Star Ball Committee does so on an exgratia basis and is released by the purchaser from any responsibility, obligation or liability.

7. Any purchased goods which have not been collected by or on behalf of the purchaser within 7 days of the Star Ball Darwin shall at the Star Ball Committee’s option, vest in and become absolute property of the Star Ball Committee and any monies paid by the purchaser may be treated as a donation to the Starlight Children’s Foundation and shall not be refundable under any circumstances.
