Programme 19:00 -19:30 Welcome Drinks

19:30-19:45 Introduction by the Chairman

Inter-professional education of future healthcare professionals - improving patient safety and quality Many errors in medicine are not related to proficiency of technical skill; in fact, several errors reported in literature have been attributed to poor communication. This presentation highlights the need for the creation of an undergraduate curriculum, which will help improve communication between different healthcare professionals dealing with the same patient. The center of our care is the patient and encouragement of good communication in the studies of future healthcare professionals can help improve patient safety and healthcare outcomes in the 21st century.

Theodoros Xanthos, Professor of Physiology and Pathophysiology, European University Cyprus, Cyprus

In addition, what opportunities are there for Cyprus to leverage these changes to drive innovation on a local, national and international level? At the end of the keynote, you will be have a better understanding of where innovation is coming from and the driving forces behind it, but also how Cyprus can use such advancements to become a leader in Digital Health.

Maneesh Juneja, Digital Health Futurist, UK

20:30-20:45 People-powered Ηealthcare

Achieving positive transformation and improvement in healthcare – from a national system to a single hospital ward - requires the successful application of People, Process and Technology to the change. Investments in healthcare technology have surged, and many organizations have implemented aspects of Lean and other systems, but the People element of change is often forgotten. Without the energies of patients, families and staff there would be no healthcare, but we are only at the beginning of understanding how to leverage ‘people power’ as a transformative force. As CEO for the English NHS through some of its most dramatic reforms, and now working around the world, Sir David Nicholson will share some of the lessons he has learned about empowering the healthcare workforce, the public and patients as positive agents for change.

Sir David Nicholson, Senior Advisor on Universal Health Coverage, KPMG and former CEO of the English NHS

20:45-21:00 Frontiers of Cognitive Computing in Health Care The advent of Cognitive Computing has created immense opportunities for the exploitation of complex data and machine learning technologies to impact numerous fields. Perhaps the single most import prospect is with Life Sciences and Health Care.
