Coming Up! May 9-18, 2014

The heartbreaking tale of a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea to win

the love of a handsome prince and claim an eternal soul. In a kingdom under the sea,

six sea princesses, recounted their experiences of being able to rise out of the sea on

their fifteenth birthday. While most of the mermaids saw wondrous sites, they still

found it’s much nicer at home under the sea. When the littlest mermaid finally had her

fifteenth birthday, she saw a lovely prince and saved him from a shipwreck. She was

instantly in love, however, the Prince woke to a young nun and mistakenly believed

she was his savior. The Little Mermaid was so smitten that she made a deal with the

Sea Witch, and exchanged her voice for legs and the chance to live with the Prince on

land. The Prince found the mute Little Mermaid (now a girl) and brought her to court to

be his special friend. Though they become incredibly close, the Prince married the

young nun, revealed to be a princess. In the end, the Little Mermaid becomes one

with the sea and is never seen again.

The peaceful English countryside may never be

the same after Bertie Wooster and his unflap-

pable valet, Jeeves, pay a visit. What starts as

a plan to pair tongue-tied, amphibian-loving

Augustus Fink-Nottle and fanciful, poetry-loving

Madeline Basset quickly goes awry. Soon,

Bertie is fending off Madeline's amorous

advances, reluctantly participating in an

attempted burglary, and fleeing attacks from a

homicidal French chef. With the stakes this

high, the solution must lie with the one and

only Jeeves! Hold on to your seats as the witty

banter, convoluted schemes that go awry, mis-

interpreted intentions, and physical comedy

may have you rolling in the aisles.

The Black Hills Community Theatre 2014-2015 Main Stage Season

OLIVER! by Lionel Bart- A Musical

September 26-October 5, 2014 Nothing works on the stage like a well-crafted tale, and OLIVER! is just such a show.

Based on the Dickens novel, it will engage you with its pathos and drama, while delighting

you with its outstanding musical numbers. Food, Glorious Food, I'd Do Anything, Where is

Love?, Consider Yourself, As Long As He Needs Me, Who Will Buy and Reviewing the

Situation are musical theatre classics. Dickens' characters are brought to life- perhaps

larger than life- with all their facets glowing in this production.

A CHRISTMAS STORY by Philip Grecian– a Holiday Comedy

November 7-16, 2014 Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-

year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree

for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa

Claus himself. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out!" All the elements from

the beloved motion picture are here, including the family's temperamental exploding

furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold

lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped

like a woman's leg in a net stocking; Ralphie's fantasy scenarios and more. A Christmas

Story is destined to be a theatrical holiday hit!

9 TO 5: The Musical by Dolly Parton

February 13-22, 2015 Pushed to the boiling point by their boss, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get

even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. They conspire

to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do -- even in a man's

world. Set in the late 1970s, 9 TO 5: The Musical is a hilarious story of friendship and

revenge in the Rolodex era which proves to be outrageous, thought-provoking, and even

a little romantic.

DRIVING MISS DAISY by Alfred Uhry– a Drama

March 20-29, 2015 Winner of the 1988 Pulitzer Prize and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-

Broadway which was made into an Academy Award-winning film. Driving Miss Daisy is a

warm-hearted, humorous and affecting study of the unlikely relationship between an

aging, crotchety white Southern lady, and her driver, and a proud, soft-spoken black

man. In a series of absorbing scenes spanning twenty-five years, the two, despite their

mutual differences, grow ever closer to, and more dependent on, each other, until, even-

tually, they become best friends.

NANA’S NAUGHTY KNICKERS by Katherine DeSavino– a Comedy

May 15-24, 2015 Bridget and her Grandmother are about to become roommates. However, what Bridget

saw as a unique opportunity to stay with her favorite Nana in New York for the summer

quickly turns into an experience she’ll never forget. It seems her sweet Grandma is run-

ning an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling hand-made naughty knickers to every

senior citizen in the five borough area! Will Bridget be able to handle all the excitement?

Will her Nana get arrested - or worse! - evicted? Nana’s Naughty Knickers is a slick

comedy that is so crisp and funny, the audiences may laugh themselves right out of their

knickers!
