OLYMPIAN DEBBIE McCORMICK CURLING FOR FUN AT THE CRUSH ne Country Curling is very proud to host Olympian Debbie McCormick to the 4th annual Crush Bonspiel. After the stress of preparing for and competing in the Vancouver Olympics we invite Debbie and Pete to sit back, laugh, reinvigorate old friendships, create new friendships, have fun and drink some wonderful wine.
Debbie’s competitive resume is one of the most impressive in United States curling. She was World Champion in 2003, is a three-time Olympian including skipping the U.S. squad at the recent Vancouver Olympics. She is a seven-time U.S. junior champion winning two silvers and one bronze at the World Juniors.
McCormick skipped the United States to a World Championship in 2003. She defeated Canada, skipped by Colleen Jones, in the final. It was the first time the U.S. international tournament as a skip. She returned to the World in 2006 and won silver. McCormick defended her 2006 U.S. title in 2007 by defeating Cassie Johnson’s Olympic rink 9-3. She went on to win the 2008 & 2009 National Championships.
McCormick has also participated in three Olympic games. At the 1998 Winter Olympics, she played second for Schoeneberg’s fifth place team and at the 2002 Winter Olympics she played third for Erickson’s fourth place team. She skipped the U.S. Women’s Olympic Team at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Debbie was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan but moved to Madison, Wisconsin at a very young age. She and her husband Pete currently reside in Rio, Wisconsin. Pete is a wonderful curler in his own right. Debbie’s father, Wally Henry, is also a championship curler and was the coach for the 2010 Women’s Olympic Team.
We at Wine Country Curling wear with pride Debbie and Pete’s competing in the Crush and uphold the tradition of top curlers coming to Northern California to enjoy the friendly atmosphere of The Crush.

WINE COUNTRY CURLING CLUB OFFICERS
The Wine Country Curling Club was started in 2006 with just 16 members. One year later we were host-ingthefirstNorthernCaliforniaBonspiel,ahugetaskfor 8 organizers. Our founder, Jerome Larson, had a dream and we were not going to let him down. We managed to pull off, not just another bonspiel, but something we could all be proud of. Today, the Wine Country Curling Club has grown into a membership of about 40 curlers and with this year’s upcoming Olym-pics we anticipate growing even more.
The Wine Country Curling Club’s goal is to promote the sport of curling in Solano, Napa and neighboring northernCaliforniaCounties.Duringcurlingseason, the club curls on Saturday evenings, 8 PM to11 PM at Vacaville Ice Sports in Vacaville, California. We also host several Open Houses and Learn to Curl Events each season. The club accepts people of all physical abilities.
