The crisis about the sources and validity of knowledge means the epistemological crisis. This crisis has made a big question to the development of that idea. It is also a serious matter because the worldview of everyone is formed by their epistemological knowledge system. The concept of sources of knowledge among the Islam and the modern world is an entirely different one. The modern world followed by the scientific knowledge which leads to the experimental rationalistic point of view. The Muslims believe that the divine revelation is the ultimate source of knowledge which completely included in the holy Quran. So, the holy Quran becomes the primary source of Islamic shari’a, which carried the full solution of worldly affairs. On this basis, the world view of Muslims is reflected in the interpretation of the holy Quran. The early Muslim thinkers were followed the holistic approach to the study of nature and social relevance of intellectual and scientific endeavour to interpreting Qur’anic revelation. Through this way, they faced all challenges of their age. But in the later times, the Muslim scholars (Ulama) took the bold step of moving against this rationalistic thought. This is the context of the epistemological crisis in the modern Muslim world. This paper proves that the synthesis of rational and revelation knowledge system is only fulfils the needs of the contemporary world. The Ijtihad is a magical tool for completing this idea. It is the real way to the return of the Tawhidic epistemology.
