Today’s Session

The Davidic Covenant has two partsThe Davidic Covenant has two parts

1. The descendants of King David to reign forever, i.e. there will be a descendant of king David on an eternal throne. This is ultimately fulfilled by Jesus Christ.

2. Jerusalem is confirmed as god’s chosen city with a temple to be on Mount Zion, i.e. God will reign from Mount Zion in Jerusalem.

Through the Davidic Covenant from God to King David, the Israelites finally move from being a nomadic tribe to a true kingdom. The city of Jerusalem is established as the center of the kingdom and a permanent temple is finally to be built on Mount Zion in Jerusalem.
