*Lapeer East will hold a College Fair on
Oct. 9th from 6:00-8:00p.m. in the
cafeteria. Over 50 universities, community
colleges, technical institutes and trades
schools will be present to provide
information about admissions, programs,
and financial aid to prospective students

PSAT/NMSQT Testing
The PSAT is a National Merit Scholar Qualifying test
for Juniors.
Juniors and Sophomores can sign up now to take
the PSAT test. Please see Mrs. Fritz or Mrs. Pecore in
the counseling office. Cost is $14.00, payable cash or
check made out to Lapeer West. Last day to sign up
is 09/28. First 45 students to sign up receive a free
student test Guide.

Central Michigan University is holding their
annual CMU and You Day on Saturday, Sept. 29th.
Prospective students and families can tour the
campus, learn about Central’s academics, and
apply to CMU. Contact CMU Admissions or our
Counseling office for more information.

“Blue Devil Days” and “Exploration Day”
Saturday September 29th is Blue Devil Days at
Lawrence Tech University. Friday, October 26th is
Explorations Day. These are great opportunities to
tour the campus and participate in interactive
career-oriented activities. Contact Admissions at
Lawrence Tech for more information.
U of M Taubman College Portfolio Day
Interested in a career in architecture at U of M
Ann Arbor? Portfolio Workshop and Review Day
at Taubman College will be held Sept. 26th.
Prospective students can learn about portfolio
assembly and organization and speak with reps.

CMU Centralis Competition
CMU will host the Centralis Scholarship
Competition on Oct. 27th, 2012. CMU awards
scholarships based on excellent academic records
as well. Reservations are required. Please see
your counselor for more information.

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
If you have made a difference by volunteering in your
community over the past year you may be eligible for the
Prudential Spirit of Community Award. One high school
applicant in each state will receive $1,000 and a trip to
Washington D.C. with a parent next May. For additional
information or to apply, go online at
www.prudential.com/spirit. The application deadline is
November 6, 2012.
U.S. Senate Youth Program Scholarship
Range: Up to $5,000
Eligibility: 1)Junior or Senior 2) Must be a current student
officer, rep of student council or class council
3)outstanding academic leadership activities 4)community
school service 5)300 word essay 6)take qualifying exam
covering history, civics, economics and other social studies
questions.
Deadline: Submit your name to be considered to Mrs.
Settergren in the Counseling Office before October 1,
2012. (Only one name may be submitted from each high
school in the country).
Engineers Scholarship
Students who are interested in pursuing a career in
engineering may apply on-line for a $500 scholarship.
Students are required to submit an essay on one of the
two topics that appear on the scholarship page at the
following website by October 5, 2012:

Wendy’s High School Heisman Award
Senior athletes who have a 3.0 GPA may apply on-line for
gift cards and the state finalists can win up to $10,000 for
their school. The on-line application must be reviewed by a
school representative and submitted by the deadline of
October 4, 2012. To apply online or get more

Michigan Education Association Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a graduate of a public school and
attend a university, junior college, or vocational
school in Michigan. Applications are due by Friday,
February 10, 2012 and are available online at:

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable
Student Scholarship
Eligibility: Current senior in high school who
exemplifies outstanding community service,
scholarship, and citizenship. Deadline for initial
application is November 30, 2012.
