2017 School Leaders

I would like to congratulate our new school leaders for 2017. They are;

School Captains: Matthew W and Aditi A

Vice School Captains: Joshua L and Lalya P

I wish them all the best for their roles in 2017 and I know they will represent Corrimal Public School with pride. Gilbert E, Aden P, Suzanne A, Kobi F and Ella P, will also have leadership positions within the school as they will be part of the school leadership team.

Staffing Changes in 2017

I would like to congratulate Ms Emma Meddows who has successfully gained the position of Deputy Principal Instructional Leader at Marsden Park Public School. While she will be sadly missed at Corrimal Public School, it is a wonderful opportunity for Ms Meddows This is a three year appointment enabling her to return to Corrimal Public School. We wish Ms Meddows all the best for her new position.

2017 Classes

Our current numbers indicate that next year we will have 193 students enrolled at Corrimal Public School. This means we will have eight classes in 2017. At this stage we will be placing the students into their new classes on Monday 30th January, 2017. This is a change from previous years where the students have gone into their last year’s classes until our numbers have been confirmed. Please understand, that while we feel that our numbers are secure enough to place the students into their new classes, if our enrolments significantly change from what we are expecting, some alterations will need to be made to accommodate the changes.

2017 Class Requirements

At the start of each school year children traditionally bring home a list of classroom requirements. This year we thought we would provide this list before the holidays to enable you more time to organise these items. This list has been sent home today, attached to this newsletter and will also be placed on skoolbag.

Orange Sky S.E.A.T presentation

Throughout the year, our Stage 3 students have been involved in the S.E.A.T project which is a social initiative that educates children in social values and sustainability. This inquiry based research project centres on the parable of ‘The Little Stool That Could’ to demonstrate the values and actions achievable by the students who participate. The culminating event is donating the decorated seats to a charity. Our students decided to focus on homelessness and their connection as global citizens. They will be donating their seats to Orange Sky Laundry a foundation that supports homeless people within Australia. The van is available to come to school on Wednesday 14th December, 2016 at 2pm. This will be an opportunity for Corrimal Public School, S.E.A.T Project

and Orange Sky Laundry to share the incredible things that they are doing to support homelessness in our local community.

P&C END OF YEAR HOLIDAY MESSAGE Goodbye 2016, what a great year! It has been another successful year for both the P&C and the school as a whole; what a great achievement for a school with just over 180 students! It could not be done without all the parents and caregivers who continue to support the school by participating in the various fundrais-ing events throughout the year, thank you! Thank you also to the teaching and office staff for being so supportive of the P&C and our work. Good luck to Year Six as they move on to high school, you will be missed but I am sure you will bring great things to your new school communities.
