WHEN STEAM PRESSURE SENSING INSTRUMENTS (PRESSURE INDICATORS, PRESSURE SWITCHES, AND PRESSURE TRANSMITTERS) ARE FIELD INSTALLED THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE IS RECOMMENDED:
1. INSTRUMENTS TO BE SUPPORTED TO MINIMIZE VIBRATION AND MECHANICAL INJURY.
2. INSTRUMENTS TO BE PROVIDED WITH A WATER SEAL, TO ASSURE THAT STEAM DOES NOT CONTACT MECHANICAL INTERNALS, LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE INSTRUMENT
3. ADEQUATE VENTILATION TO BE ASSURED SO THAT THE TEMPERATURE AROUND THE INSTRUMENT AND WATER SEAL DOES NOT EXCEED 71.1 DEG. C. (160 DEG. F.).

E) OPEN VALVE HV-XXX.6 AT BLOW-OFF CONNECTION OF STEAM STRAINER FC-700.2.
F) AFTER ALL CONDENSATE IN THE STEAM SUPPLY LINE HAS BEEN BLOWN OFF, CLOSE STEAM STRAINER BLOW-OFF
VALVE HV-XXX.6. OPEN VALVE HV-XXX.6 LOCATED BETWEEN STEAM STRAINER FC-700.2 AND EJECTOR PE-700.4.

INCREASE THIS VACUUM UNTILL ALL LEAKAGE PAST THE OUTER PACKING RINGS IS ELEMINATED. IF CYCLING OF
PRESSURE IS INDICATED BY GAUGE PI-700.7 ADJUST VALVE HV-XXX.3 UNTIL PRESSURE IS STABILIZED. IN THE
EVENT THAT CYCLING PERSISTS, SLOWLY OPEN VALVE HV-XXX.4 (VACUUM STABILIZER) UNTIL PRESSURE
STABILIZES.
SHUTTING DOWN
I) AFTER MAIN TURBINE TRIP & THROTTLE VALVE HAS CLOSED, SHUT OFF WATER SUPPLY TO GLAND CONDENSER AND
CLOSE VALVE HV-XXX.6 LOCATED BETWEEN STEAM STRAINER FC-700.2 AND EJECTOR PE-700.4.
SUBSEQUENT START-UPS
J) ADMIT COOLING WATER TO GLAND CONDENSER TK-700.5.
K) BLOW OFF CONDENSATE FROM EJECTOR STEAM SUPPLY LINE AS DESCRIBED UNDER INITIAL START-UP.
