will ie and pat butler to retire . .again! Now the truth is...Willie had already retired, but last summer he stepped up to take over the role of Timberlake’s visitation pastor and preacher at our East Campus. We are grateful for the time and energy both Willie and Pat have given to the ministries of Timber-lake and we will miss them very much. Hopefully they can now enjoy a more “relaxed” retirement...we’ll see. We are grateful for all the many years they both have served our Lord through the United Methodist Church and know God still has plans for them both. May the peace of Christ continue to fill their lives with the hope and joy they have witnessed to us all!

news from timberlake eastAfter four years of partnering in ministry, our Timberlake East campus will now become part of a 3 point charge along with Earley’s Chapel and Indian Hills United Methodist Churches –Concord Charge. They will be assigned a new pastor who will soon be announced. We praise God for this opportunity to have worked together in which we have enabled this wonderful community of faith to Worship God, Grow spiritually, and Serve our risen Lord by reaching out to others.

t imberlake continues to produce new ministers

Have you missed a Sunday? If so, you may listen to our Sunday morning sermons on-line at www.timberlakeumc.org!

What a great day it is to join the Timberlake family in ministry and mission! For weeks now, Herb and I have been looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you and those you love. It will take some time for us to get to know each other and I promise to be patient as you adapt to someone new. In the days ahead, it will be my joy to spend time with you so that we can share stories about the ways God has blessed and challenged our lives.

As we gather for worship on Sunday, June 30th, we are reminded of John’s words that “worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth”- that God is out looking for those who are “simply and honestly themselves in worship.” (John 4, The Message) My prayer is that you will come this Sunday prepared to hear and engage the WORD of God. I hope you will come expecting to hear Good News! I invite you to read the scriptures for the coming weeks and write down the questions and reflections that these powerful stories bring to mind.

On our first Sunday together, we see Jesus in “Mission Transition”. So as our church family transitions, we’ll take our clues from Him.

This past May, we had 12 young adults who studied the Bible, served in mission areas, met weekly with an adult mentor and explored the Methodist faith through Pastor Rob’s leadership. They confirmed their membership into the church on May 19th. We celebrate their commitment and welcome each into our church family.

The testimony below is from one of our confirmands.

Testament of Faith by Spence Francis

Faith is like learning to play a saxophone.

At first you’re not sure how it works and you don’t know what buttons to push. You learn by having someone showing you and teaching you. Your teacher can show you the right way to play, and you will be able to make a beautiful noise (play “Marks Steps”). By following Christ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we can learn and make a beautiful difference in our lives.

When I started confirmation I thought it was going to be boring. As I read the Bible, did missions, and worked with my mentor, it got better and better. I learned that without God if you make a mistake you will not be able to fix it (play some messy notes).

With God you can make the right decisions in your life (”Mary had a Little Lamb”). When you make the wrong decisions (plays some messy notes) you have a chance to fix it and God will forgive you (plays some good notes). So even when you don’t play every note perfectly it’s ok…that’s life….God loves you and will always be there for you (play “Twinkle,Twinkle”).

Just like I want to be a great saxophone player, I want to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

Intergenerational GAiN Mission Trip

The Global Aid Network (GAiN) Mission and Youth groups left TUMC on Monday, June 17. Traveling in the TUMC bus and van were 23 adults and 10 children ranging in age from 4 to 80.

On Tuesday, we worked at the warehouse. We made gospel bracelets; sorted, packed, and moved boxes of clothes to pallets; and filled boxes of beans and rice. According to Chad, they lifted a total of 2,500 lbs. All the participants were ready for dinner when the work was over!

All of the group assisted with food packing. There were 18,060 meals, each for a family of 4. The youth: Charity, Faith, Hopeand Emily learned how to make gospel bracelets. They hope to share this craft wIth our VBS kids next month.

The group had a great time and will have lots to share with the church in a few weeks. Betsy was our tour guide and enjoyed every minute of it!

We gave away 12 crosses and each cross has a story we will share with you. Thank you Timberlake UMC for the love and support given us as we represent you in mission. Pictures of our trip will be coming soon! Stop by the bulletin board outside of Family Life Center to see our week of mission!
