Call to Worship
One: We who dwell in the shelter of the Most High All: Seek God here.
One: We who come to be inspired and changed All: Seek God’s Spirit here.
One: We who know how little we know All: Seek God’s Word here.
*Opening Hymn God Is Truly With Us NCH #68 Unison Prayer of Invocation
Loving God, you have called us into this place, a place that is holy ground, for here we encounter you. We know that you, Creator God, are present everywhere and yet here in this place we feel you close. Speak your word to us, and call us into a new relationship with you as we join our voices together in saying the prayer Jesus taught his disciples...
The Lord's Prayer
Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
A Story for All Ages * the children arrive to the Chancel to the “traveling music” of: Jesus Loves Me! NCH #327 * the children depart to their classrooms to “traveling music” of: In the Bulb There Is a Flower NCH #433
Prayer of Confession
In his letter to the Romans, Paul challenged the people saying, “Be sincere in your love for others. Hate everything that is evil and hold tight to everything that is good.”
Yet there are times when we would rather get even with others. Paul wrote, “Love each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself. Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit and serve the Lord.”
But sometimes we don’t want to love one another. Sometimes we don’t like each other very much.
Paul challenged the people, saying, “Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying. Take care of God’s needy people and welcome strangers into your home. Ask God to bless everyone who mistreats you. Ask God to bless them and not to curse them.”
That can be so difficult! We need your strength, O God, to help us want the best for others. Help us, we pray. Amen.
Words of Assurance and Grace
When others are happy, be happy with them; and when they are sad, be sad. Be friendly with everyone. Don’t be proud and feel that you are smarter than others. And know that God loves you: always.
All: Thanks be to God.
*Gloria Patri PH #513 Glory be to the Father [Creator], and to the Son [Christ], and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Prayer of Dedication
In your Creation, O God, we stand on the holiest of ground. May these gifts be a blessing to all that you have made. May the church, organizations and people that receive them act as your hands. May needs be seen and met, and may the giving fit the need. Through Christ, who models infinite giving. Amen.
