The Comanches lived in cone shaped tipis. They used many different materials to make their shelter. They used twenty to thirty poles to cover the frame. Buffalo hides were used to cover the frame of the tipis. The poles were made from pine or ceder. A cone shaped tipi could hold up to twenty people. A tipi had a hole near the top, so when they had fires for warmth the smoke traveled out. Tipis were easily transported because they could be taken down and put back up again. When they were ready to travel tipis were taken down and made into travois. Travois carried people’s necessities when they traveled, and sometimes little, sick, or old people. Tipis were shelter for the Comanche Tipis were made out of ten to seventeen buffalo hides

Powwows were a form of entertainment among the Comanche Indians . Powwows were gatherings of all the members in the tribe to honor their old way of life.  During powwows they sang and danced. Powwows help the Comanche remember their great history. The hand game was another favorite among the Comanche. In this game, several people secretly pass an object back and fourth. Another person tried to guess who was holding the object. It is still popular among the Comanche today.

Warfare and hunting were a way of life for the Comanche. Comanche fought to survive and to capture land. To die young was glorious, thus the Comanche men feared growing old. In the past, Comanche's lived by hunting. After a hunt the Comanche Indians would have a spiritual ceremony to thank the Buffalo for providing meat for the tribe so they would not go hungry.

The Comanche had a huge battle with the Apache, and the Comanche joined with Kiowa to defeat them. The two tribes fought side by side to defeat the Apache.
