DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES

In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the titleof Champion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Wins at ChampionshipShows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at OpenShows. In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members' classes or competing forMembers' Specials each partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society. In estimating thenumber of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entriesshall be counted when entering for any class i.e. 24th October 2016. Wins in Variety classes do not countfor entry in Breed classes but when entering in Variety classes, wins in both Breed and Variety classes mustbe counted. A first prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value. A dog is not eligible for entry inVariety Classes unless also entered and subsequently exhibited in a Breed class where such a class isprovided for which it is eligible. Exemptions from this Regulation are:- (1) A puppy, unless a class for dogsunder twelve months of age for which it is eligible is provided for the breed. (2) A dog in Any VarietyVeteran Class. (3) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of theappointment of an emergency judge. (4) Exhibits bred by the scheduled breed Judge. If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which isineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the following options:- (1) Withdrawal The dog may bewithdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20. (2) Transfer a) If adog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the Show Secretaryshall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height or, inthe event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted, to the Open class for thecorrect breed, colour, sex, weight or height. b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy class,Puppy class or Junior Class, which is over age but under twelve calendar months of age, eighteen calendarmonths of age or 24 calendar months of age respectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit tothe Puppy class, Junior class or Yearling Class respectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight orheight and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling Class to the Open class for the correctbreed, colour, sex, weight or height. c)For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shalltransfer it to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height. d) If an exhibit arrives lateand misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not betransferred to any other class.MINOR PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of theShow. PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. JUNIOR For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of theShow. YEARLING For dogs of twelve and not exceeding twenty four calendar months of age on the first dayof the show. NOVICE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or three or more First Prizes at Open andChampionship Shows (Minor Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classesexcepted, whether restricted or not).

GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First prizes atChampionship Shows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes,whether restricted or not. POST GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes atChampionship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whetherrestricted or not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. MID LIMIT For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations orunder the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club or won 5 or more First Prizes inall at Championship Shows in Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, confined to the breed, whetherrestricted or not at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.LIMIT For dogs which have not become show Champions under the Kennel Club Regulations or underthe rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club or won 7 or more First Prizes in all atChampionship Shows in Limit or Open Classes confined to the Breed, whether restricted or not atShows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.OPEN For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show. VETERAN For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the show. NOT FOR COMPETITION Societies may at their discretion accept Not for Competition entries.Societies may accept such entries from breeds of dog not included within the title of the Society andat shows held over more than one day, such entries may be accepted on any day from any breed.

RULES & REGULATIONS

1. The Show will open at 9.00 a.m.2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure that exhibits are

available for judging when required. 3. Judging will commence with Rough Collies at 10.00 a.m. Smooth Collies not before 11.30 a.m.4. Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. The Show will

close half an hour after all judging has been completed.5. The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as

authorised by the Show Management. 6. Entry Fees: Rough Collie Members: £14.00 First entry per dog, £2.00 each subsequent class with

the same dog, Rough Collie Non-Members: £18.00 First entry per dog, £2.50 each subsequent class with the same dog, Smooth Collie Members: £6.00 First entry per dog, £1.00 each subsequent class with the same dog, Smooth Collie Non-Members: £8.00 First entry per dog, £2.00 each subsequent class with the same dog. Not for Competition: £5.00 per dog (please include all details on entry form), Catalogue: £3.00 prepaid with entries, £4.00 on the day (limited number available on the day)

7. Prize money or Specials will be on offer for 1st to 3rd places. Rosettes to 5th place. 8. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries. 9. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the show are not eligible for

exhibition. 10. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the show is forbidden. 11. Best Puppy in Show Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in

Show is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the sameShow. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day ofthe Show. Where the Best of Breed or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awardedBest Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed orReserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it shouldautomatically be Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently,selection of Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best ofBreed and Best in Show respectively. Best Puppy in Show must be selected from puppies whichhave been judged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy. b. Withdrawal from Other

Competition. Puppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Show may be withdrawn from allother competition, other than breed classes and Best Puppy in Breed, prior to the competition forBest Puppy in Show as appropriate, in order to remain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competitionfor Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it waspreviously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in anysubsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged beforeBreed Classes. c. Proviso For the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for StudDog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed will not beconsidered to be a beaten dog.

12. Best in Show a. The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten byany other dog exhibited at the same Show. Best in Show must be selected from all unbeatenwinning dogs. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Best of Breed(s) and thedog/bitch declared by the judge to be Reserve Best of Breed to the dog declared Best in Show. b.Withdrawal from Other Competition. Dogs which become eligible for Best in Show maybewithdrawn from all other competition other than breed classes and Best of Breed prior to thecompetition for Best in Show in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best inShow may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. Thedogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in anysubsequent competition. Dogs may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged beforeBreed Classes. c. Proviso For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for StudDog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will notbe considered to be beaten dogs.

13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless that have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the show management.

14. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

15. It is not acceptable to handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. Exhibitors should note that such practices could constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

16. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for exhibition.

17. All dogs resident outside the U.K. must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor.

18. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and theKennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travellingto and whilst at KC licensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show ison a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a goodidea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, withlots of water available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air aroundthe dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always haveplenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.

• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight forextended lengths of time.Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and thiscould lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUNDTO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FORANY DAMAGE CAUSED.Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps toensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk byany action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect maybe referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules andRegulations.Right to Refuse Entries. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the rightunder Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.

19. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded onthe entry form and must be Kennel Club registered

20. No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the General Committee ofthe Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

21. The Committee does not hold itself responsible for the loss or damage to persons, dogs orproperty.

22. The Committee of this show cannot be held responsible for products advertised or sold by standholders at the show, and remind exhibitors that such products may not meet the requirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

23. Exhibitors are reminded that grooming tables and other objects likely to cause obstruction mustnot be set up in gangways between benching in the benching area. Exhibitors must be aware ofKennel Club Regulation F1 (17) Exhibition of Dogs, with regard to paragraphs (a) and (f) concerningthe times that dogs are allowed off their benches.

24. Exhibitors/handlers are responsible for clearing up and removing any loose hair or fouling fromdogs in their charge, or any other litter, whether from the car park, the exercise area or from anyother part of the venue.

25. The Collie Association have names and addresses of their Members stored on computer/wordprocessor and are exclusive to the Association. If any Member has any objection about their namebeing held in this way, please contact the Secretary.

26. Should the show be cancelled for any reason entry fees will not be refunded. 27. Owners, handlers, exhibitors or any other person in charge of a dog at a Kennel Club licensed

event must ensure at all times that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensedvenue including its environs, car parks and approaches.

28. A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objection hasbeen lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been registered or recorded as havingbeen bred by the scheduled judge. This shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency.

29. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display thecorrect ring number.

30. Parents/Guardians please note, well behaved children are welcome but those in charge of childrenwill be held fully responsible for their actions and any damage caused within the environs of theshow.

31. All Collie Association Cups and Trophies must remain in the UK mainland and must be returned,when requested, for offer at future shows, confined to members or open to all.

32. PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING – for full rule please refer to back page of schedule. 33. Anyone entering the show venue prior to the published opening time is not covered under the

terms of the Association's insurance. 34. The Show will be held under Kennel Club Rules and Show Regulations. Every exhibitor making an

entry or entries at this show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by these Rules andRegulations and it is on this understanding only that entries are received.

DIRECTIONS TO VENUEFROM THE SOUTH Exhibitors can use the M40, leaving at Junction 11 to connect with the A423 Banbury/Southam/Coventry Road. At roundabout with A445, take 3rd exit and the SportsConnexion is 100 years on the right.

FROM M6 SOUTHBOUND Leave the Motorway at Junction 2 and follow signs A46. At the third roundabout (Tollbar End), take first exit A45 London. After approx 500 yards take the exitsignposted A423 Southam. At second roundabout take first exit A445 and the Sports Connexion is on your right approx 400 yards.

From M1 SOUTHBOUND Leave the Motorway at Junction 18 Crick and follow until signposted B4429 Dunchurch. Follow until the centre of Dunchurch, turn right at traffic lights to M45/A45 and at roundabout take second exit A45 Coventry. Follow A45 approx 4-5 miles until signposted for Leamington Spa A445 on left, take this exit and the Sports Connexion is approx 500 yards on the left.

FROM M5 SOUTH Leave the M5 Motorway at Junction 9 taking the A438. After 3 miles take the A435 to Evesham. Bypass Evesham and after 10 miles, then take the A46 to Stratford, then A452 via Leamington Spa, The take the A445. At Ryton cross the roundabout taking the second exit, and the Sports Connexion is on your right approx 400 yards.

FROM M1 NORTHBOUND Leave the Motorway at Junction 17 on to M45. After 8 miles join A45 at first roundabout. 6 miles on join A445 signposed to Leamington Spa. The Sports Connexion is approx 700 yards on left.

Rule 29 - Photography & Filming . The taking of photographs in the exhibition premises, for sale or reward isstrictly prohibited except with the written permission of the organisers. The organisers reserve the right, at theirabsolute discretion, to confiscate cameras and/or films, for infringement of this condition. There is no objection tothe general public taking photographs or video film of general views of the show, provided that these are for privateuse only. Specific dogs may be photographed only with the approval of the exhibitor. No photography or filming ispermitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actually taking place. However, judges may allow it to happen atthe end of classes or after the Challenge Certificates are awarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed outside the rings at all times, unless the operation of the camera isactually affecting the exhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or it is clear that exhibits are being affected,a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned. Cinematography or television equipment may only be used at the show if a permit has been issued by theorganisers. There are also certain restrictions on the use of cameras for still photography and private video films.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F (B)

1. These regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at any KennelClub licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action underthese show regulations and/or for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A42.a) a dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these regulations will automatically be disqualified fromexhibition at the show and from any award gained there at.b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach of theseregulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed under Rule A42

2. (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’scoat for any purpose at any time during the show. No substance which alters the natural colour of anyexternal part of the dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the show.(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibitionmust not be allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition.

3. No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performedexcept (a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) the removal of dew claws of any breed(c) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club beforeneutered dogs are shownNor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive.

4. The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at any show.Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall have awritten directive from the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examinationand analysis.

5. An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dogcompeting in the same breed or class. An objection may however, be lodged by an official of the show orby anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges theobjection or the official (as appropriate), to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Clubwill substantiate the grounds for an objection made on its behalf.

6. Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing tothe Show Secretary at his/her office before the close of the show and the individual must produceevidence of identity at the time of lodging the complaint.

KENNEL CLUB REGULATION F12 – DOG FOULING & GROOMING WASTEa. Any owner, exhibitor handler or other person in charge of a dig us required to remove immediately any fouling caused by their dog(s) and/or any grooming waste at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches.

b. Any organisation holding a Kennel Club licensed event is required to provide an adequate number of receptaclesfor the disposing of such fouling waste.

c. The chalking, powdering or spraying (with the exception of water) of exhibits within the precincts of the show is forbidden.

CHILDREN AT THE SHOWExhibitors are reminded that they will be held personally responsible for any loss or damage caused by children intheir charge within the precincts of the show. Parents and those with children in their charge should ensure that

the children remain with them at all times during the continuance of the show.
