To be frank, I don’t know how to put things down in fancy words. So,
I’m making a humble attempt here, to bring to you the gist of what
I want to say. As rightly mentioned by Mr. Suresh in the academic
section, this is the rst time in last 10 years of AIIMS that all executive
members of the Students Union have been elected unequivocally. We are
extremely thankful to all of you for showing this immense trust in us. We
assure you that each one of us will try our best to live up to your expectations
and to fulll the responsibilities entrusted to us.
I’m proud, and at the same time lucky, to have with me a team of
dedicated executive members who are not only fully aware of their duties
but are also willing to dedicate themselves for the betterment of our college.
I ensure you that the SU will be accessible to each one of you at any time
you wish through multiple portals like facebook, mobile phones etc. So
please feel free to approach us with any of your grievances, small or big,
anytime - because if anything bothers you, it bothers us too.
As we didn’t get a chance to present our manifestos before you, I would
like to summarize the goals we have set for ourselves. Our main concern is
to focus on the PG reservation issue and try to make a nal settlement for
the same which has been eating our heads off for quite a long time. Another
important concern is to improve the quality of facilities which are made
available for us in the hostels. Particular effort will be made to enrich our
campus life experiences by ensuring the participation of our college in the
various extra-curricular activities outside the campus as well.
“Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates
action”-as said by Frank Tibolt -can’t be put into better words. So, I don’t
nd any point in plunging deeper into the ner details of each and everything.
Rather we will let our actions speak for us.
Integrity, initiative and intelligence are the three pillars which support
our SU. Our collage is blissfully overladen with diversity. Each one of us
carries with us a different avor. But, in spite of everything, one thing unites
us all – AIIMS, our alma mater. So, let’s join our hands to leave the fourth
‘I’- individual - behind us and work together to take our college to greater
heights.
Yours truly,Tungish Bansal
President, SU, AIIMS

O
ne year has gone past since a Students Union headed by myself came
into power. It was a feeling of relief and utmost happiness when we won
the nerve cracking Students Union elections after tough ghts and all
the internal politics - an experience that is literally matchless. Soon after, we re-alized that with power comes responsibility. I felt proud and really happy to be in
the executive body of SU, AIIMS and it indeed was a great working opportunity
as well as a learning experience. It really improved my organizational skills and
my role as a team player. Things work out well and good if you got a good team.
I was lucky that I had one. Whatever I have achieved, is least because of my skills
– but because of the unfailing support from my team. I really enjoyed attending
the institute meetings and discussions . It was pure fun !!!!.
Starting from Saraswati Puja to Infest and to Pulse 2011 - the biggest med-ico festival, it indeed was worth it. Organizing Pulse 2011 was really a great ex-
perience. I am happy that our team made good decisions regarding PULSE 2011
that made it a huge success. The lessons we learned just can’t be put into words.
I am really feeling happy that we solved the electricity crisis at AIIMS, Dr. She-
joy’s case and many more with the constant support and guidance of AIIMS RDA
.Working with great leaders like Dr. Debjyoti, Dr. Sushant and the rest was really
inspiring.
I would like to make use of this opportunity to express my gratitude to allthose who helped me during my term as President, SU - all my seniors for their
constant support and guidance & all my juniors who helped in implementing the
dreams and plans of our executive. I quite understand that I have not been able
to satisfy every person. To them I apologize unconditionally for falling short of
their expectations. What you must understand is that I have tried my level best
for the same.
It was a period of power , authority and big responsibility. Even though I
had tough times during my tenure, I found it a wonderful l learning experience.Last year was really the most eventful year of my life . It helped me in improv-
ing my leadership and management skills and made me a more condent and
competent person. I am feeling satised and relived for the fact that I was able
to maintain the dignity of the post. Time ies very fast – I realize that I am now
the ex-President. I wish all the very best to my juniors in the executive of AIIMS.
To the UGs, show the AIIMSONIAN spirit, support them, provide for them, and
help them in their efforts so that we can make AIIMS a better place. Jai Hind.

You could smell the change in the air – the
unmistakable rejuvenating eeling – and that is when
you know that the spring is around. rees had started
shedding o leaves – and on our part, we had started
getting rid o those extra skins that made our survival
possible through the demanding winter. Basant Pan-
chami marking the start o the spring, and having itsmythological roots as being the day Goddess Saraswati
was born – is quite an occasion i you are in the prem-
ises o the one and only AIIMS
Earlier, January had started with much
pomp and many events in line - P wave treat, Lodhi,
Return reshers, the elections that never happened and
a heap o un stus. While we were actually planning to
take a break rom the exhaustion caused by recurrent
episodes o celebration, words about upcoming Saras-
wati Pooja started buzzing around. It brought waves o thoughts, and naturally the next step was to pester our
beloved seniors or the extra bit o inormation. Tat
was ollowed by a urry o activity – our platoon o
acchis were asked to perorm the Saraswati Vandana.
Clueless as always – we began our search or a suitable
song, a suitable costume – not to mention the suitable
dancers. Dance practice , trust me, is a nice thing to
see. Huh, I have had my share o horriying experi-
ences in my lie, but when my riends asked me to stepinto the dance team as Krishna, all o them appeared
to be mere joke. Tey being in no mood to concede – I
gave in. For someone with a pathological stage right,
it was something o death-deying-stunt scale.
And it was not just the dance practice,
the collection o “chanda” - going door to door as little
gangs, some award winning perormances which can
act as tutorials to upcoming sales-girls, and attempts
to be the one to return with maximum collection – i
all these won’t count as un, I don’t know whether any-thing else would.

And when the day in question dawned, rec room
was literally unrecognisable – thanks to Srishti, Preeti and
the rest. But seniors – you have to give it to them – never
alls short in jobs to be handed out to acchis – ruits, gar-lands and a handul were dutiully set aside or us. People
came in, Priest came in, and Pooja added a dimension o
serenity to the celebration.
Evening, it was even more eventul. Te rush at
the proverbial 11th hour, the reaking out and all the rest
o classic characteristics o an exam day answered their
attendance call. My stomach did some nimble somer-
saults as I walked to put in my part o the show. Prayed
or tonnes o knowledge – without having to read much o
course, and then we started with the cultural programs.
Not every other day you get to meet a true artist –
but on that day we met one truly blessed. Mrs. Kavita Vani
with her sitar, took our hearts with her when she lef the
stage. Amanda, Meghal and Harsimar perormed pure
joy in the name o Bharatnatyam. Dr. Dinu ollowed up
with quite a perormance, our own Katara with praises o
Lord Krishna, and in the end, our dance. I survived – that
is the bottom line o the last program.
All celebrations are occasions o joy, but very ew,like this – leaves us happy and peaceul.

I gaze ahead, I’m blinded,Reality, the clawed hands of villains
Creep towards, blurring perceptionI cower, I close my eyes,
Let myself be taken
I see memories, I see lifeDays I breathed free
Colours vibrant, thoughts bright, the will to love and live,
sewn in tight. A visionary of the future,
Alas, now, the past I crave.
I close my eyes, and evade life now, elope into dreams, elope into light.
Yet Clawing inside,
My cobweb of responsibilitiesRelationships, the likes, the life
Open, she says, my conscienceTake your strides
I step weakly and she gives me hopea helping hand , a little push
and back.. into the world of deceptioninto life as we know it,and yet in solitude I crave,
Just to close my eyes
as I close my eyes..Shruthi R
