Cover Illustration. Our cover illustration shows one side of the Peacekeeping Monument in Ottawa
called Reconciliation. It is the work artist Jack Harman and architects Gregory Henriquez and Cornelia
Oberlander. Completed in 1992 and commemorated in 1995, it depicts three peacekeeping soldiers,
two men and a woman ‘standing on two ridges of stone which cut through the broken debris of war and
converge at a high point, which symbolizes the resolution which peacekeeping brings.’ It also includes
a quote from The Rt Hon Lester B Pearson, Prime Minister from 1963-1968 and Nobel Peace Prize
recipient (included at the end of this leaflet).

Sunday June 28, 2020 ~ Morning Prayers with hymns at 10:30am
Hymn 375 At the Name of Jesus King’s Weston
At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow,
every tongue confess him King of glory now.
'Tis the Father's pleasure we should call him Lord,
who from the beginning was the mighty Word.
Humbled for a season to receive a name
from the lips of sinners unto whom he came,
faithfully he bore it, spotless to the last,
brought it back victorious, when from death he passed.
Name him, Christians, name him, with love strong as death,
but with awe and wonder, and with bated breath
he is God and Saviour, he is Christ the Lord,
ever to be worshipped, trusted and adored.
In your hearts enthrone him; there let him subdue
all that is not holy, all that is not true;
crown him as your Saviour in temptation's hour:
let his will enfold you in its light and power.
Christians, this Lord Jesus shall return again,
with his Father's glory, with his angel train;
for all wreaths of empire meet upon his brow,
and our hearts confess him King of glory now.
The Versicles Ferial
Officiant Lord, open our lips;
All And our mouths shall proclaim your praise.
Officiant O God, make speed to save us;
All O Lord, make haste to help us.
All Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Officiant The Lord is our refuge and strength:
All O come, let us worship.
Are you visiting with us today online? Welcome to St Jude, Wexford.
We customarily take time during our service to receive an offering from those present for the life and work of the parish.
During this time when we are not meeting in the Church for worship, we ask you consider setting your offering aside until we are able to be together, or if you are able to send it to us by mail or
drop it off in our mailbox outside the parking lot entrance, it would be greatly appreciated.
We provide all the text for worship in the provided leaflet. This service includes portions in Spanish; the second language of the parish. We have worked to include the text of today’s hymns, however,
if you are looking for the music, they all can be found in Common Praise.

Venite
All Come, let us 'sing to*the' Lord;
let us shout for joy to the 'rock of' our sal'vation.
Let us come before his 'presence*with' thanksgiving
and raise a loud 'shout to' him with' psalms.
For the Lord is a 'great' God,
and a great 'king a*bove' all' gods.
In his hands are all the 'caverns of the' earth,
and the 'heights of* the' hills are* his' also.
The sea is 'his and* he' made it,
and his hands have 'moulded *the 'dry' land.
Come let us bow down, and 'bend the' knee,
and 'kneel be*fore the' Lord our' maker.
For he is the Lord our God, and we are the people
of his pasture and the 'sheep of *his' hand.
Oh, that today you would 'harken 'to his' voice!
Glory to the Father and 'to the' Son,
and 'to the' Holy' Spirit:
as it was in the be'ginning, *is 'now,
and will be for'ever. 'A'men.
Officiant The Lord is our refuge and strength:
All O come, let us worship.
Psalm 13 (Congregation sings refrain where indicated R)
How long, O Lord? will you forget me forever? how long will you hide your face from me?
How long shall I have perplexity in my mind, and grief in my heart, day after day? how long
shall my enemy triumph over me? R Look upon me and answer me, O Lord my God, give
light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death: Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” and my
foes rejoice that I have fallen. R But I put my trust in your mercy; my heart is joyful because
of your saving help. I will sing to the Lord, for he has dealt with me richly, I will praise the
name of the Lord Most High. R

A reading from the Book of Genesis Genesis 22:1-14
After these things God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah,
and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you.” So
Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with
him, and his son Isaac; he cut the wood for the burnt offering, and set out and went to the place
in the distance that God had shown him. On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place
far away. Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the boy and I will
go over there; we will worship, and then we will come back to you.” Abraham took the wood of
the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. So
the two of them walked on together. Isaac said to his father Abraham, “Father!” And he said,
“Here I am, my son.” He said, “The fire and the wood are here, but where is the lamb for a
burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God himself will provide the lamb for a burnt offering, my
son.” So the two of them walked on together. When they came to the place that God had shown
him, Abraham built an altar there and laid the wood in order. He bound his son Isaac, and laid
him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to
kill his son. But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, and said, “Abraham,
Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything
to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son,
from me.” And Abraham looked up and saw a ram, caught in a thicket by its horns. Abraham
went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham
called that place “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it
shall be provided.”
adorar a Dios, y luego regresaremos junto a ustedes.

The Song of Creation Common Praise # 754
Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
Glorify the Lord, all you works of the Lord. Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
In the firmament of his power glorify the Lord. Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
Glorify the Lord, all you works of the Lord. Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
Glorify the Lord, O mountains and hills. Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
O springs of water, seas, and streams. Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
O whales and all that move in the waters. Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
Let the earth glorify the Lord. Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
Praise him and highly exalt him for ever.
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. Matthew 10:40-42
“Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent
me. Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and
whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward
of the righteous; and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the
name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.”
Officiant The Word of the Lord.
All Thanks be to God.
Hymn 615 Just as I Am Woodsworth
Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me,
and that thou biddest me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind; sight, riches, healing of the mind,
yea, all I need, in thee to find, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt,
fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, and waiting not, to rid my soul of one dark blot,
to thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, thy love unknown has broken every barrier down,
Now to be thine, yea, thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Homily The Rev Dr. Alison Falby
We observe a moment of silence.
The Nicene Creed
Celebrant Let us confess our faith, as we say,
All We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of
all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of
the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten,
not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For
us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy
Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our
sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended
into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in
glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the
Father. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has
spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic
Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sin. We look for
the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Collect of the Day
Officiant Almighty God, you have taught us through your Son that love fulfills the law.
May we love you with all our heart, all or soul, all our mind, and all our strength
and may we love our neighbour as ourselves; through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Almighty God, whose wisdom and whose love are over all, accept the prayers
we offer for our nation. Give integrity to its citizens and wisdom to those in
authority, that harmony and justice may be secured in obedience to your will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and forever.
All/Todos Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Officiant As our Saviour taught us, in the language of our choice, let us pray.
All Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be
done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread; forgive us our sins, as
we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver
us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and
forever. Amen.
Officiant Let us bless the Lord.
All Thanks be to God.
Hymn 438 O Jesus, I have Promised Wolvercote
O Jesus, I have promised to serve thee to the end;
be thou forever near me, my Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle if thou art by my side,
nor wander from the pathway if thou wilt be my guide.
O let me feel thee near me; the world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear;
my foes are ever near me, around me and within;
but Jesus, draw thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin.
O Jesus, thou hast promised to all who follow thee,
that where thou art in glory there shall thy servant be;
and, Jesus, I have promised to serve thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend.
O let me see thy footmarks and in them plant mine own,
my hope to follow duly is in thy strength alone.
O guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end,
And then in heaven receive me, my Saviour and my Friend.
9
Officiant Lord God we ask your blessing to your Church, holiness to the world, peace to
this nation, justice and to all people knowledge of your law. Keep safe our
families, protect the weak, heal the sick, comfort the dying and bring us all to a
joyful resurrection; and the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy
Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always.
All Amen.

Due to the unfolding situation with COVID19 (Coronavirus). In compliance with a message
from Bishop Andrew Asbil, all worship services held within the parish building are cancelled
until further notice. As directed by the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario, and with the advice of
medical experts, we will not resume worship within our church space until the end of this
summer,.
Please remember: We must all do what we can to practice physical distancing and good hand
hygiene as we progress from one Phase of opening to another. Together all of us can help
mitigate both risk and fear in our communities by exercising this due diligence.
If you are at a higher risk of illness and need assistance, please contact the church office and we
will see what can be done to help you with shopping or other errands.
Provincial decision and how it impacts on us. Many of us are happy to experience the
gradual re-opening of parts of society. Additionally, as many of us know, a decision was made
to allow religious organizations to resume worship services under specific protocols. While this
announcement will have a direct impact on certain faith communities, the Anglican Diocese of
Toronto will continue (along with our sister Dioceses) to follow the direction given us by the
Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario: for our church buildings to remain closed for worship until
September. Please note: our Food Bank ministry will continue to operate under the system we
have been using since the start of the lockdown.
We await the Diocesan guidelines, which will allow us to move forward in the safest way
possible and properly put plans in place to re-open.
I know this may difficult to hear, however, we have shown how we can get through this

Deacon’s Pantry Food Bank. As a recognized essential service during the COVID-19 crisis,
we are working very hard to keep our Food Bank open for those in our community. We
continue to evolve in how we can best serve the community while keeping our volunteers safe.

generous donations, Corporation has agreed to increase the weekly shopping budget by
$100/week.
Our phone tree is working. Fr Greg would like to thank the members of the parish who have
volunteered to assist in keeping us connected through a phone tree. If you have any pastoral
needs or concerns during this time, please contact Fr Greg directly (the phone number is at the
