We are not in this alone My dear friends: The word “yoke” is used metaphorically to describe those things that control the lives of people. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (verse 29). Looks like we have a problem here! Is Jesus calling on those who are carrying heavy loads to come and add a yoke to their burden? Doesn’t that sound like adding affliction to the afflicted? No; Jesus is asking us to cast away our burdens and take on his yoke. This is because, unlike the burdens we bear, his yoke is easy and his burden light. What is this yoke of Christ? The yoke of Christ can be seen as the sum of our Christian responsibilities and duties. To take the yoke of Christ, therefore, is to put ourselves in a relation-ship with Christ as his servants and subjects, and to conduct ourselves accordingly. It is to know that we are not pulling the yoke alone and by our power but together with Christ and by the strength that comes from him. When we surrender to the path of love which he’s laid out to us, when we submit ourselves to the discipline of this new world our lives become infinitely lighter, easier, and more joyful. Our lives move according to the diving rhythm, divine purpose. As the new King enters Jerusalem, imagine Him entering your life. You are meant to be the Holy City, the whole of you. Christ comes in now. Will you submit to His lordship? Will you take His yoke upon your shoulders? God bless you, Msgr. Cronin

A Message from our Pastor...

Eucharistic Adoration

RCIA What is RCIA? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a pro-cess established for the universal Church for individuals to become Catholic and receive the sacraments of initia-tion –Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Whom is RCIA for?

Anyone interested in learning more about the Catho-lic faith. Persons in need of Baptism. Persons baptized in another Christian tradition who desire to become Catholic. Persons baptized Catholic in need of First Commun-ion and Confirmation.

How does a person who is interested begin? We begin with the period of Inquiry. During this period, teaching is given to people who are interested in learn-ing more about the Catholic Faith. There is no obligation involved in attending these meetings – they are intended to help a person decide whether they want to continue learning about the Faith. If you are interested or would like more information please contact Deacon Frank at [email protected]

Baptisms

God Bless Jack Rylan Mulvey

We will be offer-ing Saturdays at 10:00 am and 11:00 am and Sundays at 1:15 pm in both the church and the chapel throughout July and August. Please call or email the parish office to schedule your child’s baptism.
