THE CHURCH OF GOD NEW WORLD MINISTRIES

WELCOMES YOU TO

THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES 2015

“And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came up against Jerusalem shall even go

up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.”

Zechariah 14:16

The Church of God New World Ministries

Welcome to the Feast of Tabernacles 2015

Prior to the children of Israel entering into the Promised Land Moses gave them a refresher course in the things God had commanded them to do. We read the following in Deuteronomy 16:13-15: “Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after thou hast gathered in thy grain and thy wine. And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the sojourner, who are within thy gates. Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD shall choose; because the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands; therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.”

God ordained the Festival of Tabernacles as a time when His people should worship Him with special joy, reverence, mirth and thankfulness. It was not to be a noisy “camp meeting,” or what is so often referred to as a “revival” at some date set by man. It is not a “vacation” in which we spend all our time doing our own pleasures. Instead, it was and still is a time of joy-fully worshipping God while taking in spiritual food (preaching) that is corrective, inspiring and character building. It was, and still is a time of dining, visiting, dancing, and enjoying activities that stimulate the body and knit the people of God together in spiritual harmony (Jer. 31:12-13).

The feast of tabernacles pictures God’s millennial reign on the earth. Isaiah describes it this way, “And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. There shall be no more in it an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days; for the child shall die an hundred years old, but the sinner, being an hundred years old, shall be accursed. And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them...the wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD” (Isaiah 65:19-25).

God has instructed His people to observe this feast year after year to remember this aspect of His marvelous Plan of Salvation. For the saints of God, they will rule with Him for 1,000 years. For others, they will be resurrected later in another resurrection—the Great White Throne Judg-ment. The Last Great Day represents this resurrection (Rev. 20:11-12; John 7:37-39).

As we draw nearer the end of this age let us keep this feast and follow Moses’ admonition, “therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.”

Sincerely,

George Trent

Each year the Church tries to come up with ideas to help defray the cost of the Feast. This year we will continue what has become a success—The Church Auc-tion! We will have an auctioneer who will auction donated items to the highest bid-der. We realize some have more funds than others and we do not want the auc-tion to become competitive. Nor a show of pride or vanity. Let’s remember to practice the principle of GIVING.

This year we will be returning to Jacobson’s Park for our Church picnic. We have catered a meal for every-one to enjoy. Bring along any games you would like to play or your guitar for a sing-along. If you prefer to just sit and talk, that’s ok too. Plan to bring the en-tire family and spend the afternoon in good whole-some fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.

Feast o

f Tabernacles

During this year’s feast find an-

other family or families to spend

some valuable feast time with.

Let’s begin practicing God’s way

of giving now, during this feast,

for the New World to come.

The Feast of Tabernacles

“`And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, the fif-teenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD. On the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work therein. Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. On the eighth day shall be an holy con-vocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein (Lev. 23:33-36).”

“And ye shall take on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations; ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths; That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD” (Lev. 23:40-44).

We are admonished to live by every word of God. To do this we need God’s Holy Spirit.

We are told to study and pray daily. Don’t neglect these vital aspects of your Christian growth and development while at the feast.

Always find time for prayer and Bible Study. Don’t quench the Spirit!
