ORDER OF SERVICE
WELCOME
And now as we prepare for worship, let us bow our heads and hearts before Al-
mighty God as the choir leads us in our Preparation.
Collect for Purity: Page 101
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known and from you no secrets
are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that
we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your Holy Name, through Christ
our Lord. Amen.
Opening Prayer:
Introit Hymn: CH 708
.Opening Sentences: Page 99
God chose to make known how great among the nations are the riches of the glory of
this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27
Or
1. Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of harvest home; all is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin. God, our Maker, doth provide for our wants to be supplied; come to God's own temple, come, raise the song of harvest home.
2. All the world is God's own field, fruit unto his praise we yield; wheat and tares therein are sown, unto joy or sorrow grown. ripening with a wondrous power till the final harvest-hour; grant, O Lord of life, that we holy grain and pure may be.
3. For we know that thou wilt come, and wilt take thy people home; from thy field wilt purge away all that doth offend, that day; and thine angels charge at last in the fire the tares to cast, but the fruitful ears to store in thy garner evermore.
4. Come then, Lord of mercy, come, bid us sing thy harvest home; let thy saints be gathered in, free from sorrow, free from sin, all upon the golden floor praising thee for evermore: come, with all thine angels come, bid us sing thy harvest home.
4
For the God who said, "Out of darkness light shall shine," has caused his light to shine
in our hearts, the light which is knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus
Christ. II Corinthians 4:6

PRESIDENT:
Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Alleluia! Alleluia!
ALL
And blessed be His Kingdom, now and for ever. Amen. Alleluia! Alleluia!
The Alleluia may be omitted during the week days of Lent.
The following may be said by the President and people:
ALL
Blessed Lord and Father, we have assembled in your name and in fellowship
with one another. Enable us by your grace to offer the sacrifice of praise and
thanksgiving; to proclaim and respond to your holy word. Teach us to pray for
your world and your Church. Grant that we, confessing our sins, may worthily
offer to you our souls and bodies as a living sacrifice and eat and drink of your
spiritual food in this Holy Sacrament. Amen.
The Kyries & Gloria: Page 102

Glory to God in the highest,
and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,

you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
THE COLLECT: Last Sunday of the Epiphany: Page 162 BCP.
O God, who before the passion of your only-begotten Son revealed his glory upon the
holy mountain: Grant to us that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance,
may be strengthened to bear our cross, and be changed into his likeness from glory to
glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
.Harvest Festival
Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their
season and for the labours of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful
stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all
who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives
and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

MINISTRY OF THE WORD
1ST Lesson: Deuteronomy 8: 1-3. 6-10 (17-20) Mr. Stanley Medford
This entire commandment that I command you today you must diligently ob-
serve, so that you may live and increase, and go in and occupy the land that the
LORD promised on oath to your ancestors. 2Remember the long way that the
LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, in order to hum-
ble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would
keep his commandments. 3He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feed-
ing you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted,
in order to make you understand that one does not live by bread alone, but by
every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. 6Therefore keep the com-
mandments of the LORD your God, by walking in his ways and by fearing him. 7For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with flowing
streams, with springs and underground waters welling up in valleys and hills, 8a
land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of
olive trees and honey, 9a land where you may eat bread without scarcity, where
you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron and from whose hills you may
mine copper. 10You shall eat your fill and bless the LORD your God for the good
land that he has given you. 17Do not say to yourself, ‘My power and the might of
my own hand have gained me this wealth.’ 18But remember the LORD your God,
for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, so that he may confirm his cove-
nant that he swore to your ancestors, as he is doing today. 19If you do forget the
LORD your God and follow other gods to serve and worship them, I solemnly
warn you today that you shall surely perish. 20Like the nations that the LORD is
destroying before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the
voice of the LORD your God.
Psalm: 65:9-14 Page547 (BCP)
9. You visit the earth and water it abundantly; you make it very plenteous; * the
7
river of God is full of water.
10. You prepare the grain, * for so you provide for the earth.
11. You drench the furrows and smooth out the ridges; * with heavy rain you sof-
ten the ground and bless its increase.
12. You crown the year with your goodness, * and your paths overflow with
plenty.
13. May the fields of the wilderness be rich for grazing, * and the hills be clothed
with joy.
14. May the meadows cover themselves with flocks, and the valleys cloak them-
selves with grain; * let them shout for joy and sing.
2ND Lesson: James 1:17-18, 21-27 Mr. Clement Deane
Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, com-
ing down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or
shadow due to change. 18In fulfilment of his own purpose he gave us birth
by the word of truth, so that we would become a kind of first fruits of his
creatures. 21Therefore rid yourselves of all sordidness and rank growth of
wickedness, and welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the
power to save your souls. 22But be doers of the word, and not merely
hearers who deceive themselves. 23For if any are hearers of the word and
not doers, they are like those who look at themselves in a mirror; 24for
they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they
were like. 25But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and
persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be
blessed in their doing.26If any think they are religious, and do not bridle
their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless. 27Re-
ligion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for
orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the
world.

Gradual Hymn: CH 717
The Gospel: Matthew 6: 25-33
‘ ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you
will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and
the body more than clothing? 26Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor
reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you
not of more value than they? 27And can any of you by worrying add a single hour
to your span of life? 28And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of
the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, 29yet I tell you, even Solo-
mon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. 30But if God so clothes the
grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will
he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31Therefore do not worry, say-
ing, “What will we eat?” or “What will we drink?” or “What will we wear?” 32For it
is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father
knows that you need all these things. 33But strive first for the kingdom of God
and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
1. Praise, O praise our God and King; hymns of adoration sing;
Refrain
for his mercies still endure ever faithful, ever sure.
2 Praise him that he made the sun day by day his course to run;
Refrain
3 And the silver moon by night, shining with her gentle light;
Refrain
4 Praise him that he gave the rain to mature the swelling grain;
Refrain
5 And hath bid the fruitful field crops of precious increase yield;
Refrain
6 Praise him for our harvest-store, he hath filled the garner-floor;
Refrain
7 And for richer food than this, pledge of everlasting bliss;
Refrain
8 Glory to our bounteous King; glory let creation sing;
Final Refrain
glory to the Father, Son, and blest Spirit, Three in One.

The Sermon
Reflection: Choir
The Nicene Creed: Page 104
THE NICENE CREED
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is seen or unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
one in Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered, died and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in fulfilment of the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge
the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father.
10
With the Father and the Son
he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic
and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism
for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead.
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Offertory Hymn: CH 361
1. ALL people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice; him serve with fear, His praise forth tell, come ye before Him, and rejoice.
2. The Lord, ye know, is God indeed; without our aid He did us make; we are His flock, he doth us feed and for His sheep He doth us take.
3. O enter then His gates with praise, approach with joy His courts unto;
4. praise, laud, and bless His Name always, for it is seemly so to do.
5. For why? the Lord our God is good; his mercy is for ever sure; his truth at all times firmly stood, and shall from age to age endure.
6. To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the God Whom Heav’n and earth adore, from men and from the Angel‑host be praise and glory evermore.
There's a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place, And I know that it's the Spirit of the Lord; There are sweet expressions on each face, And I know they feel the presence of the Lord. Chorus Sweet Holy Spirit, Sweet heavenly Dove, Stay right here with us, filling us with Your love. And for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise; Without a doubt we'll know that we have been re-vived, When we shall leave this place.
There are blessings you cannot receive Till you know Him in His fullness and believe; You're the one to profit when you say, "I am going to walk with Jesus all the way." If you say He saved you from your sin, Now you're weak, you're bound and cannot enter in, You can make it right if you will yield,
You'll enjoy the Holy Spirit that we feel.

PRESIDENT
Holy and gracious Father,
all creation rightly gives you praise.
All life, all holiness, comes from you
through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,
whom you sent to share our human nature,
to live and die as one of us,
to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.
We therefore bring you these gifts,
and we ask you to make them holy
by the power of your Spirit,
that they may become the Body and Blood of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ,
who offered Himself in obedience to your will,
the Perfect Sacrifice for all mankind.
18
On the night he was betrayed, he took bread,
and when he had given thanks to you,
He broke it and gave it to his disciples and said:
"Take this and eat it:
"This is my Body which is given for you.
"Do this for the remembrance of me."
After supper he took the cup of wine
and when he had given thanks
He gave it to them and said:
"Drink this, all of you:
"This is my Blood of the New Covenant,
"Which is shed for you and for many
"for the forgiveness of sins.
"Do this, whenever you drink it,
"For the remembrance of me."

endured for our salvation;
His Glorious Resurrection and Ascension;

we offer you, in thanksgiving,
this holy and life-giving sacrifice.
Look with favour on your Church's offering,
and grant that we who eat and drink these holy gifts
may be filled with your Holy Spirit
and become one body in Christ,
and serve you in unity, constancy and peace.
May He make us a perpetual offering to you

Hymn for the Blessing & Recommitment: CH 714
1. O Food that weary pilgrims love, O Bread of angel-hosts above, O Manna of the saints, the hungry soul would feed on thee; ne’er may the heart unsolaced be which for thy sweetness faints.
2. O fount of love, O cleansing tide, which from the Saviour’s piercéd side and sacred heart dost flow,
be ours to drink of thy pure rill, which only can our spirits fill, and all our need bestow.
3. Lord Jesu, whom, by power divine now hidden ‘neath the outward sign, we worship and adore, grant, when the veil away is rolled, with open face we may behold thyself for evermore.
5. For Thy Church which evermore lifteth holy hands above, offering up on every shore her pure sacrifice of love. Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our grateful hymn of praise.
1. In this our bounteous island God smiles his sweetest smile; from ferny dell and covert wild flowers our eyes beguile; among the leafy branches the ripened mangoes sway, and green pimento berries make fragrant God’s bright day.
Refrain: Praise him, ye bright people, with harvest hymn of joy; O give to God a hymn of praise, and love without alloy.
2. The creamy breadfruit blossoms
point upward to the sky, to tell that God’s rich blessings fall on us from on high. The canefields wave in greeting, clad in their verdant dress; and citrus fruits swing slowly in golden loveliness.
Refrain:

ALL
Almighty Father,
we thank you for feeding us
with the Body and Blood
of your Son Jesus Christ.
May we who share His Body
live His risen life;
we who drink His cup bring life to others;
we upon whom your Spirit shines give light to the world.
Help us to continue in faithful witness to your Word,
so we and all your children shall be free,
and the whole earth live to praise your Name,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Or
Eternal God and Heavenly Father,
we thank you for feeding us
with the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ.
that blends with rain in blessing the tender ears of corn: that ripens into beauty fair fruits of every kind- bananas, pears, star-apples, and cherries purple-lined.
Refrain: Praise him, ye bright people, with harvest hymn of joy; O give to God a hymn of praise, and love without alloy
4. Young coconuts encircle
the warm hearts of the trees, beneath the green boughs hiding, and rustle in the breeze. Nature her many voices, each day with joy uplifts! Shall we not thank our Father For all his wondrous gifts.
25
Send us now into the world in peace,
and grant us strength and courage
to love and serve you and our fellow men
with gladness and singleness of heart,
through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Or
Almighty and everliving God,
we thank you for feeding us
with the spiritual food
of the most precious Body and Blood
of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ;
and for assuring us in these holy mysteries
that we are living members
of the Body of your Son,
and heirs of your eternal kingdom.
And now, Father, send us out
to do the work you have given us to do,
to love and serve you as faithful witnesses
of Christ our Lord.
To Him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be honour and glory, now and for ever. Amen
Final Blessing:
Christ the Son of God gladden your hearts with good news of His kingdom; and the
blessing ...
The Blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among
you and remain with you always.
ALL Amen.

Hymn of Eucharistic Thanksgiving: CH 723
DISMISSAL AND BENEDICTION
1. To thee, O Lord, our hearts we raise in hymns of adoration, to thee bring sacrifice of praise with shouts of exultation. Bright robes of gold the fields adorn, the hills with joy are ringing, the valleys stand so thick with corn that even they are singing.
2. And now, on this our festal day, thy bounteous hand confessing, Upon thine altar, Lord, we lay the first fruits of thy blessing. By thee the souls of men are fed with gifts of grace supernal; thou, who dost give us earthly bread, give us the bread eternal.
3. We bear the burden of the day, and often toil seems dreary; but labour ends with sunset ray, and rest comes for the weary. May we, the angel-reaping over, stand at the last accepted, Christ's golden sheaves, for evermore to garners bright elected.
4. O blessèd is that land of God where saints abide for ever, where golden fields spread far and broad, where flows the crystal river; the strains of all its holy throng with ours today are blending; thrice blessèd is that harvest song which never hath an ending.
Praise God from whom all blessing flow,
praise Him all creatures here below.
Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts,
praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

The Saints
Chad, Bishop Chad was a prominent 7th century abbot and later Bishop of the Northumbrians and subsequently Bishop of Mercian and Lindsey. He is featured heavily in the work of Bede and is cred-ited, along with his brother Cedd, with introducing Christianity to the Mercian kingdom. This year, Chad is remembered on March 3rd.
Perpetua and her Companions During the persecution of Christians in the 3rd century, this group was imprisoned and was martyred together in the arena at Carthage. Their final days have been recorded for us in a document that was partly their own words and partly the words of an unnamed narrator. Perpetua and her com-panions are commemorated on March 7th.
A Message to Our New Members We warmly welcome you to the Christ the King Family! We want you to know that we are extremely happy to have you as a member of our congre-gation. There are two sayings that are very important to us here in this church and we hope you will take note of them and that they will become part of your active vocabulary. They are: “Experience and share God’s reconciling love” and “There is a Ministry for you!”
Each time we come into this holy place we should be seeking to encounter God. In turn we should seek to help others encounter God. We hope also that you will remember that there is a ministry for every one of us. All of us have something we can offer to God and we hope your experience in this church will help you to recognize this truth more and more. If you are in-terested in learning more about the opportunities for service, fellowship and learning in this Church please contact the Chairperson of the Christian Fellowship & Member Relations Committee, Mrs Margaret Sobers, Mr Ron Hewitt, Chair of the Stewardship & Awareness Committee or the Church Office. Once again welcome and we are really happy to have you as a member of our family.
