BENEDICTION POSTLUDE “Toccata” Gordon Young DEUTERONOMY 34:1-12 (NIV)

“Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan, all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. Then the Lord said to him, ‘This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.’ And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is. Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over. Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses. Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.”

CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP “Come, Now Is the Time to Worship” Doerksen

CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 90): L: Lord, you have been our dwelling place P: throughout all generations. L: Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, P: from everlasting to everlasting you are God. L: May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; P: establish the work of our hands for us.

HYMN “Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above” No. 97 (Verses 1, 2 & 4)

CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Prayer of Confession: (In Unison) Loving Jesus, we come together today to know you more. Help us, Lord, to

realize all that you have done to draw close to us. Forgive us for those moments when we try to control situations rather than rely on your power and purpose. We ask for open eyes to see all that you have prepared before us, open ears to hear all that you are saying to us, and open hearts to feel all that you feel for your creation. Thank you for this journey. Amen.

L: Let us now pray together the prayer that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us: P: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

THE INTERNET, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND YOU!

Have you ever wondered how the internet began? What about social media? Do you know the difference between a tweet, a blog, and a post? Everyone is welcome!

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to sign up for The New Life Center’s annual fundraising Brighter Day luncheon to be held on Friday, November 21st, from noon-1:00 p.m. If you would like to attend, sign up in Souers Hall after each service today. When you arrive, you will receive a parking space. Then, set up your lawn chair, open your trunk (and candy bags), and wait for kids to walk through and trick-or-treat in a safe place. For those who would like to decorate the trunk, there will be a decorating contest. There will also be a hay maze, grave yard, and plenty of frightening sights for the kids as well. Please sign up in Souers Hall if you would like to participate.

Pick up your shoebox to pack today in the breezeway and return it next Sunday, November 2nd, to Souers Hall. Call Judy Anderson with any questions at (623) 386-7473.

BOOK STUDY GROUP

Carry On, Warrior – The Power of Embracing your Messy, Beautiful Life, by Glennon Doyle Melton, invites us to believe in ourselves and our faith, to be brave and kind, to let go of the idea of perfection and to stop making motherhood, marriage, and friendship harder by pretending they’re not hard. Please join in a casual book study on Wednesdays at 5:30-6:00 p.m., in Classroom 4. Childcare is available and we will follow the children’s choir schedule. Please contact Carrie Bemis at (623) 203-2909 or [email protected] if you have any questions. Sign up in Souers Hall for the book study.
