Dear Friends of the Community Center,

We were very lucky in the recent snow storm that we did not have power outages in the city. For those who are not aware, the Center will be a warming shelter if needed. The Center served breakfast and lunch to some of the hard working city employees that did such a great job clearing the streets during the storm. We are glad to help our community in any way possible.

During the winter weather please take a moment to check on your neighbors. I know it’s dark early and so cold we all rush home and run inside to get warm. If you have a neighbor that you haven’t seen outside, mail or newspaper n ot collected, please just take a minute to knock at the door and see that they are ok. We all need to help each other through the long winter months.

Our Valentine’s Community Diner will be held on February 10th– Make Sure to Wear Something Red! I am hoping the weather will cooperate and not bring us any snow that day so we can celebrate.

We will be holding a Valentine’s week Food Drive at Big E’s Super-market. Please help if you can by purchasing a bag of groceries for the Pantry. After the holidays, the shelves are always very empty. It takes thousands of cans each week to provide food for 900 families. Thanks for all your help!

Everyone has been so generous with their outgrown winter clothing that we have been able to find winter coats and warm clothes for all who have come in. Thank you to all who donated!!

Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! Always a special day for me as I married my special Valentine on February 14th (32 years ago)!
