Question: “Is there a Biblical reference for reincarnation?”

Answer: “Yes, there is. When Jesus asked Peter, 'Who do men say that I am?' and Peter said, 'Some say you are Elias, some say you are Jeremiah;' and then, Jesus said to Peter, 'But who do you say that I am?' Peter said, 'Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God;' and Jesus said, 'Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father.Then he went on to say, 'Upon this rock (of recognition of one's true identity) I build my church.' And he used in the Aramaic text, and then in the Greek text, the feminine word for rock, 'Petras'. So he wasn't building it on the man, Peter, but on the feminine principle. Peter was listening with his Soul, and through his intuitive faculties of Soul, he brought through the truth of being: 'Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.' The Church of God, which is invisible, and incorruptible, and eternal, and immortal, is built on right-identification.

So reincarnation is spoken of because in the Bible they were waiting for the Messiah, and Isaiah had to come first. Jesus said, 'He already came. He came as John the Baptist.' So that, reincarnation, as long as we have a material sense of body, we are always going to experience life through that material sense of body. That's why bodies will continue to multiply, and multiply, and multiply, as long as there is a material sense of existence; because we cannot live higher or lower than our consciousness. When we attain the spiritual sense of body, we will probably never come into an experience of material sense. If we go out of this world with the same sense of body that we came in to, we are going to come back into that same consciousness. 'Like begets like'; but if we have spiritual awakening, and we begin to ponder and contemplate the spiritual sense of body, the real body, and we keep our vision, we look up to that infinite, incorruptible One, that 'temple not made with hands, eternal in the heavens,' and we keep our high vision on that I, we will never have to experience a material sense of body again.

Now to heal, you must first of all understand where the sin, disease, lack, or death comes from that is to be healed; and the first rule of all is: don't look into your patient for it; don't look into the mind, or soul, or body of your patient. You will not find it there. Your patient is just what you are -- pure, spiritual, complete. The appearance does not testify to that; but then, your are not to judge by appearances, you are to "judge righteous judgment," and that righteous judgment reveals to you, "This is indeed the Child of God." Why? We all are, in our true, spiritual identity. We are all Children of God, regardless of the masks we wear. And at some part of our lives, we are apt to wear very ugly ones, from the standpoint of either sin, or disease, or lack. But the point is that regardless of the mask we present at any given moment, behind that mask is our true identity. And our true identity is Divine Sonship.

Now when you recognize that, it is easy for you to take the next step and realize that this evil, whatever its name or nature, is impersonal. It is not of this person. It is not in or of them. It is an imposed condition, imposed by this universal belief of a selfhood apart from God, or a universal belief of a law apart from God, or a substance apart from God. You have very nearly healed your patient with your first realization of the impersonal nature of this sin, disease, whatever it may be. The moment that you have separated it from that person, you have started them on the way to their recovery, to the realization of their health. If you, by any chance, go back to looking for the error within them, be assured that you are helping to perpetuate it in them and for them. You are the "blind leading the blind," and you'll both get into an awful lot of trouble. Far better is it not to attempt this work until you have come to the realization that all evil has its rise in an impersonal source. Now our “art,” spiritually, has to do 99% with the mind, because the mind is our instrument. The mind is the instrument of Soul; and so, that mind is where we really have to apply spiritual principles. So when thoughts come into our mind, are we standing “porter at the door of thought,” as Mrs. Eddy said, allowing only those images or concepts we want bodily manifest? Probably not! That's a very, very, hard task, especially for “the human being.” But what if that individual that is standing porter at the door of thought is the I, is the Christ? Ah, that puts a shift on what is coming into my mind. Am I aware of this spiritual Christ-activity as the I of my being, or am I just looking at my mind as the human receptacle of all of the conditioning I've had throughout my life and judging the thoughts that are coming in through that conditioning? Or can I really step aside of that conditioning, can I really start examining that instrument that I have, and find, “Am I living in a state of purity, in a state of truth?” So that, “What is expressing through me?” Because it is going to be coming through my mind; but my mind isn't an originator, the mind isn't creative, the mind doesn't have any properties, any spiritual properties, other than when the mind is absolutely pure of words and thoughts, receptive to the activity of truth. Then what is the property of the mind? Clarity; transparency; it becomes just that where we can have the unfettered truth flowing through us to be expressed.

Now what is the expression of truth? If God is in manifestation, if love is in action, then the expression of truth is going to basically fulfill this spiritual expression. It's going to be an agent of love; it's going to be an agent of truth; it's going to be an agent of peace; it's going to be an agent of harmony: and as such, as we let this flow through our individual experience, how are we going to benefit by this but by feeling that activity and being fulfilled in that activity.

So how are we an agent of peace; how are we an agent of love? First of all, we have to make sure that we are not judging, that this mind is pure. Do you see how much it always goes back? We are always going to be back to what is this perception that we have: what is our perception of truth, of the Divine? There is a difference between perception and a concept. I might perceive the Divine, but the Divine being infinite and invisible, I can make no concept of that. It's a feeling. It's a knowing. It's like when you are in a certain place, and there is an atmosphere, and you can tell, “Oh!” Atmospheres that are localized to “place” aren't necessarily spiritual. Those atmospheres are existing in a state of mind that you might be picking up. But if you are sensitive to it, and you are aware, in this sensitivity, of the oneness and the omnipotence of God, then that sensitivity will trascend any concept, and it will allow you, as the individual, to feel the essence of what it is that's there.

… We've all had these feeling, we've all had these intuitions, we've all had these experiences that cannot be put into a mental or physical context. We don't very often talk about them, because they are not part of that dynamic of cause and effect. What they are are our experiences in the Now-moment. They are experiences that take place that are not part of time or space.

You understand this, don't you? That if you give a spiritual truth to a materially minded person, they cannot accept it. It is very much like saying that Christianity isn't practical. Why, don't you know that all materialists believe that? They believe it's a waste of time to be spiritual, because while it's idealistic, it isn't practical. Take my word for it - it's practical! It's meat, it's bread, it's wine, it's water, it's automobiles, it's airplanes. It is so practical that there isn't a good thing ever withheld from those who understand their relationship to God, who understand God as their supply. Do you know that God can't give health? “God is the health of thy countenance.” Do you know that God can't give supply? God is bread, meat, wine, and water. Do you know that God can give nothing. God is all things and God can only give Himself, for God appears as form. It is still God when it appears. That is why, regardless of the abundance that we may receive through spiritual grace, we can never be wasteful with it. We can never be carnal in its use. Why? Because we recognize it as sacred, we can share it abundantly, give it freely, never waste it, because we recognize it to be God. And so it is with the strength of our bodies. We can use it freely, we can give it, we can share it, but we cannot waste it, because we recognize that the very health of our bodies is God Itself. The very strength of our muscles is God Itself. God realized appears as the health of our body, as the forms of supply, for God is these. And so we rightly say, "I am the bread." Not "I will give you bread." Not "I will give you health". I am the health of your countenance. I am the bread, and the meat, and the wine and the water. Not "You will be resurrected." ... and not that I will be resurrected .... but that I am the resurrection. ... I am the power of resurrection. The I AM, that which is within me, closer than breathing, That is the power of resurrection. We won't ever organize an “I Am" movement! We will understand that I am. We will love the I that I am. But we will know that it is God, and therefore, something to be held sacred, secret, within us. Not to be talked about, not to be publicized. Let the world see by our fruitage that we have discovered the “pearl of great price.” Then when it [the world] has given the indication of its sincerity, its integrity, its willingness to give as well as to receive, then share. But also, in this same secretiveness. Do you see now why this is a Closed Class? Whatever God has revealed to me in my life on this Path is yours. I withhold none of it. I give it freely as it came to me. But I give as sacredly and as secretly as it came to me, and I urge that sacredness and that secrecy upon you. It is for this reason that meditation plays such an important part in our life. In meditation we contemplate these truths. In meditation we remind ourselves of these truths. In meditation we bring them to conscious remembrance, and then we keep the finger on the lips, and let the fruitage show forth what has taken place within us in the inner temple of our being. Because you must remember your consciousness is the temple of God, because God abides there. Your body is the temple of God, because your consciousness is the very source, and essence, and substance of your body. Your body is not something separate and apart from your consciousness. Your consciousness is formed as your body, and therefore your body is a sacred temple. It is not to be lightly spoken of or lightly dealt with. Your body is the sacred abiding place of God, because God is your consciousness, and your consciousness forms your body, ind therefore, you, body and soul, consciousness, you are the temple of God; and God abides in you - and I am His name.

We do know that we are spiritual being, and we do know that we are in a dream. This is what your contemplative meditation does. You are quiet, and you're thinking about all the things that come through, or that you worked with, and you begin to see. You have those moments of being still and listening, and you begin to feel that inner conviction that it's all true that you are not ever going to die, and that you never were born, because you have an awareness of this inner Reality of you. It is this belief that we really do have to die – that's a human slogan, it's a sure thing, “death and taxes,” and everybody believes it. They go right on believing it, because everyone seems to disappear out of their dream, sooner or later; and so they're dead, as far as they're concerned. They have no discernment to see beyond that little horizon that they've set up; and so, as soon as the person gets beyond the horizon, they're “dead.” Not really! You do get an inkling, now and then, that that isn't true, and your inner intuition is what you should contemplate. You don't take it without meditating about it, you don't just take every idea that hits you as a fact. You contemplate it, you work with it, and you ask for guidance, you listen within. You do get the assurance, you get the experience of it. Then you have an absolute conviction of it, when it comes to you, within, not just every idea off the top of your head, but the ones that you've pondered and worked with. You know, because you're touching this inner source of Omniscience, and that's what you are experiencing, then.

You begin to see that, because the whole world believes in death, and doesn't want it; everything that comes along, they give it power to bring about death. If you knew there wasn't any [death] to start with, that it was all an imaginary thing that has been thought up and accepted by everybody, if there isn't any more death, then why would you worry about the disease, or the accident, or something else that is the step that comes before it? You see, most of the life that we live as humans is focused on death, or on everything that goes on that is leading right up to it. That's why people get jobs: they don't want to starve to death! They don't want to die; and so, basically, that's why they are working. They'd rather not work, most of the kinds of jobs that people have, or else why would they be so glad when it's Friday night? They'd be very sad, otherwise, that they had to stop working and take this time off!

You see, it's the whole human belief [that] is all backwards and upside down. Most of what people do, they do it because they believe in birth, and because they believe in death, and because they believe there's four, five billion people that they have to compete with, in one way, or a hundred ways. This is all not true! This is all “human life”: earning a living, getting along with people, staying alive, so to speak – really, staying asleep! That isn't life, that isn't the God-life that we are heading for, that we are working to attain. It's humanhood; and when you think about it and begin to see what it is, it really doesn't amount to a hill of beans! I mean, spiritual life is worth having. That is what we have to work for, towards: to wake up. And that's what is really going on.

For Meditation: “When you begin to awaken, you forget about patching up the dream, because you aren't in it any more; and so the desires, really, begin to fade out: the desires, and also all the beliefs of disease, sin, and lack. They aren't there; they don't exist. They're just images in the mind. As fast as you become aware of what they really are, the nature of the discords, you don't waste your time desiring to patch them up. Your focus, then, is on awakening to what IS, to the truth of Being.” – Luella
