World Book Day 2016

To celebrate World Book Day, all students under the age of 18 are eligible to receive a free £1 World Book Day token. All students in years 7 - 11 will receive a token from their form tutor. Students in years 12 and 13 can collect a token from the sixth form study area. Tokens can be redeemed at participating bookshops from 29th February – 27th March, and can be used to either purchase one of the specially produced books, or used in part payment of any book or audio book costing £2.99 or more

From Neil Beckley: Catering goes cashless: Following the recent successful upgrade to the fob system, no cash

will be accepted in the Dining Rooms from February 22nd after the half term holiday. Fobs can be topped up on-line or at the cash machines in the Dining Rooms (between 7.30am and 1.30pm). This will speed up the service at the tills and result in shorter queues at meal times. Cash will still be accepted in the Sixth form cafe.

Please contact finance@cherwell.oxon.sch.uk if on-line instructions or link codes are required. The office will be manned regularly during half term so they can be issued during the holiday.

Exploring the NHS Taster

Week Oxford Health’s Exploring the NHS Taster Week provides you with the opportunity to learn

about many of the exciting careers that are open to you within the NHS and gives you an

insight into some of the less known professions.

During this week long programme there will be some classroom sessions as well as the

opportunity to shadow our staff in both clinical and non-clinical settings during their working

day.

The dates that we will be holding the taster weeks for this year are:

25th – 29th July 2016

22nd – 26th August 2016

This programme is open to students with an interest in pursuing a health career who are

currently in year 11 or 12. Our spaces are very limited and we will be selecting students

carefully to ensure we are giving this opportunity to the most dedicated future health

professionals.

Engineering Maintenance

Qualifications required for Apprenticeship:

A minimum of 5 GCSE’S Grade C or above including a Maths / English/ Science.

A technology related subject or a BTEC level 3 (60 credits plus) or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or Technology discipline would be advantageous but is not essential. Closing date for applications: 20th March 2016.

Engineering Technician (Year 13 student)

Qualifications required for Apprenticeship:

A minimum of 5 GCSE’S Grade B or above including a Maths / English/ Science and a Technology related subject.

You will ideally have two A-Levels at Grade C or above in both a Mathematical subject and a Science, Technology or Engineering related subject, or a BTEC level 3 (90 credits plus) or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or Technology discipline. Closing date for applications: 20th March 2016.

Finance Technician

Qualifications required for Apprenticeship:

A minimum of 5 GCSE’S Grade B or above including a Maths / English/ Science for entry level apprenticeship starting at level 2.

A minimum of 2 A-levels at Grade C or an accounting qualification would be preferable as this could preclude you from taking the AAT level 2 and give you six months placement experience but is not essential as full training will be given.

Closing date for applications: 20th March 2016.

Technical Logisitcs (Year 13 student)

Qualifications required for Apprenticeship: A minimum 2 A Levels at Grade C or above. Closing date for applications: 20th March 2016.

Technical Laborary (Year 13 student) Qualifications required for Apprenticeship: The successful candidate should:

Ideally be an A-Level Graduate with strong grades in science based subjects.

Be enthusiastic about cars and their manufacture

Enjoy the challenge of solving problems

Be fun, friendly and enjoy being part of a good team

Have good communication skills

Be motivated and keen to learn

Be flexible, willing to work and spend time in different areas and sites within the UK and Germany

A full driving licence would be an advantage but not a necessity.
