Mission Adept Water Technologies provides efficient, environmentally-friendly and economical solutions for the disinfection of water and water systems.

We help our customers quickly get to the forefront of protecting the world’s water resources through the reuse of water.

Our systems are supported by extensive knowledge of disinfection technologies and best practices covering an array of water treatment applications.

VisionOur goal is to provide reliable and easy-to-use, non-chemical disinfection systems for industrial use.

We are continuously improving our range of products to keep pace with industry requirements as well as satisfy our customers’ needs for water disinfection and reduction of water usage.

Reuse of water – an intelligent way to save water and reduce cost

Good quality water is often taken for granted, but a growing

population and climate changes are among the many factors

that are putting pressure on the world’s water resources.

Because of these pressures, the price of water is expected

to increase. Reusing water can reduce overall water

consumption and help limit the increase in the cost of water.

This is important for many manufacturing operations.

Legionella – a problem in cooling towers and hot water systemsLegionella, or Legionnaire’s Disease, is a growing problem (Source: “EPI-NYT” 41/07, Statens Seruminstitut). Legionella, which can be contracted by inhaling droplets of infected water, poses an increasing health and safety risk. Legionnaires’ Disease can lead to death, especially among individuals who are weakened.

Legionella bacteria thrive in 20o to 50o C (70 – 110oF), which is often the range used in industrial cooling water systems and cooling towers.

European countries such as the United Kingdom and France have legislation in place on how to control Legionella in cooling towers.

Legionella can also develop in tanks and piping systems in hot water systems in buildings and may infect users. Germany, for example, has legislation on how to control Legionella in hot water systems.

Microbiological control is also essential in water used in swimming pools and spas, where bacteria, as well as Legionella, may pose significant health risks.

Controlling unwanted bacteria

ControL When reusing water, microbiological control through disinfection is vital.

While bacteria perform essential functions in many aspects of human life, many bacteria are unwanted – E-coli, Coliform bacteria, Salmonella, Campylobacter to name just a few well-known examples.

1.5 billion people are infected annually by food-induced illnesses and it is estimated that 3 million die from their illness. (Source: WHO).

At the same time, 30% of post-harvest produce is lost due to microbial activity (source: WHO).

This carries tremendous costs all the way from producer to consumer, making good micro-biological control essential in processing and manufacturing of food and beverages.

no chemicals

The BacTerminator® system has been designed for quick and easy installation.

If the inlet/outlet tubing and electrical power has been prepared, installation takes an hour. No long and tedious procedures and no long production downtime.

Easy to understand screen menus and straightforward operation make the BacTerminator® system very easy to work with during daily production.

Disinfection – without adding chemicals

The electrochemical processes in the BacTerminator-chamber result in effective disinfection – within six seconds.

BacTerminator® eliminates virtually all water-borne germs without having to add chemicals – in a continuous, fl ow-through process that takes just six seconds.

BacTerminator® converts natural concentrations of salt and oxygen into six powerful biocides through an electrochemical process.

A new and important feature of the BacTerminator® system is that it can work effectively with concen-trations of salt as low as ~20 mg/L of chloride.

BacTerminator® is highly effi cient, achieving up to log 5 elimination of bacteria – 99.999% – signifi cant in a large number of applications.

BacTerminator®’s effectiveness is based on the electrochemical processes in the disinfection chamber that produce areas of very low pH. This strongly enhances the formation of hypochlorous

acid – the key biocide in BacTerminator®. In pH equilibrium with hypochlorite, hypochlorous acid is reported to have a biocidal effect more than 100 times better than conventional hypochlorite-based treatment. The hypochlorous acid is electrically neutral and can thus penetrate the bacteria’s cell membrane for a more effective disinfection.

The pH induced advantage means the high disin-fection effi ciency is achieved at a much lower con-centration of biocides, compared to, for example, conventional chlorination. This has signifi cant implication for how small the BacTerminator®’s impact is on the water treated. Potable water treated with the BacTerminator® system will be of potable water quality after the treatment.

The residual chlorine in water treated in the BacTerminator® is typically between 0.2 – 0.5mg/L, within typical requirements for drinking water.

A versatile product line

The BacTerminator® system has been designed for

fl exibility and adaptability.

It can be confi gured to continuously disinfect a fresh

supply of water as well as recirculate a volume of water

in a system (including fresh supply to compensate for

evaporation from the system).

BacTerminator® 2-series & 4-seriesThis product line is ideal for water treatment, and handles volumes of up to 4 m3/hour.A BacTerminator® BT can control the bacterial level of recirculated water in cooling water systems of up to 50 m3.

BacTerminator MAX SeriesThis product line is ideal for water treatment, and handles volumes of up to 150 m3/hour.A BacTerminator® BTM can control the bacterial level of recirculated water in cooling water systems of up to 2000 m3.

DesignThe BacTerminator® units consists of a control cabinet, one or two disinfection chambers and fl ow control equipment. Pumps, sensors, inter-net surveillance decalcifi cation module and chloride booster module are available as optional extras. The unit is supplied ready for connections: 230/400VAC and water inlet/outlet.Installation takes as little as two hours.

BacTerminator® Both BacTerminator® product lines are soldin industrial versions for process waterapplications as well as complete, hygienicdesign versions for food processing.
