Creativity for July 21-29, 2015 KOMP House Alsótold, Hungary Nowadays we are all self-employed – whether we like this term or not. 25 – 30% of young people are unemployed, the number is growing, and even more of us are „hidden unemployed”: work as freelancers, jumping between project-based, part-time, temporary jobs. However, we must recognize that the age of classic employment is over. The project-based, temporary character is becoming dominant in each sector, let it be formal, non-formal or business, in education and all other expertize areas. These forms of work are becoming more and more widespread in NGOs, education, small business, social enterprise and start-ups. The challenge for youth work is double: Are we as youth workers, non-formal educators, equipped withtools and methods with which we can prepare and support youngsters to face this new and strongly growing character of the labour market? Are we as young people ourselves, owning theskills and attitudes to live and work in and with this environment? This is a brand new training, developed on request of people who did so called „synergy dance trainings” with us before, wanting to continue dance and self-discovery. Among each other we call it “the advanced dance training”. The training is for people who did at least 1 dance training with us before, committed to develop themselves further dance, enterpreneurship and working with people. 3-4 support team places are available for people good at working with videos. The main theme is personal enterpreneurship. We use methods and techniques from contemporary dance, improvisation, individual coaching, performance, video to explore and reflect on participants’ relation to enterpreneurship, creative individual and small-team work, and to train specific skills and attitude needed in the 21st century for a person who takes responsibility to create their own living. Go beyond basic mastery of skills and/or curriculum to explore and expand our own learning, opportunitiesand take initiative to improve skill levels. Demonstrate commitment to learning. Explore and reframe concepts of space, time, temporariness, movement, new, change, precision, enjoyment and productivity, reflect critically on past experiences in order to inform future progress Prepare an inform ourselves, start from zero, innovate, improvise, transform, modify, recognise pos- sibilities, take risks. Understand, negotiate, and balance diverse views and beliefs to reach workable solutions, par- ticularly in multi-cultural, multigenerational, socially mixed environments. Leverage social and cultural differences to create new ideas, increase both innovation and quality of work. Set and meet goals, prioritize, plan, and manage work to achieve the intended result, even in the face of obstacles and competing pressures. To be disciplined means finding someone wise or smart and follow in a good way. To be self-disciplined means to follow in a better way. Improvement means to do something in a way that every time it changes. If you catch yourself repeating, it means you are not improving. Do not create and analyse at the same time. They are different processes. Be happy, enjoy yourself, have fun. It is lighter than you think. Allow yourself to be surprised and allow others to surprise you. Principles of our learning environment Trainers Alex Tsiamoglou (Greece), Krisztina Győry (Hungary) and Marjory Helstone (the Netherlands) Alex is a choreographer/dancer/filmmaker. He has worked with choreographers and dance companies as Sinequanon, Default, 50 Collective, David Zambrano and Lia Tsolaki. He has given workshops on contemporary dance and improvisation classes in Italy, Turkey, Hungary, Spain, Netherlands and Greece. He founded his own company Rough|Cut under which he produces choreographic work and short dance films. Krisztina is a competence development trainer, youth worker and coach, founder of the highly successful international youth NGO, Egyesek Youth Association and a local business, Creative Space. Her expertise is small business and civic initiative, cultural adaptation, and training personal creativity. Alex and Krisztina are both trainers of a European network called the International Synergy Group for 11 years. They have been developing the program and the methods of the so called „synergy dance training” together with the participants of the program since 2007, having guided the core program 9 times so far. They both have many years of experience in working with multicultural groups, community work, using a variety of non-formal educational methods. Marjory is a dance teacher at The Fontys Dance Academy in the Netherlands. She has worked with the first jazz dance companies in the Netherlands, Djazzex and Vibration Black Dance Theatre. She studied at Codarts University Rotterdam and has been a teacher for many years. She has been involved in many dance projects in Europe, Africa and South America. Marjory Helstone has had a major impact on the development of the Afro Jazz dance and gives international dance workshops. A team of volunteers will assist the trainers, they are people who did one of the previous dance trainings and want to improve their skills further by supporting the participants. Egyesek Youth Association is one of the leading independent youth NGOs in Hungary, member of the informal network called International Synergy Group and several other worldwide networks. Egyesek has 17 years of experience in local-level, grassroot youth and community work, and in designing, guiding and organising non-formal learning projects, such as community service, exchanges, volunteering, internship programs, training courses and workshops. Check our work! Practicals venue The workshop will take place in the village of Alsótold, Hungary. It is a brand new accommodation run by a local NGO. There are 4 bedded rooms with their own separate shower and toilet. Free WiFi is available. We ask you to bring towels; bedsheets, blankets and pillows are provided. In the building you find common social areas, big outdoor spaces, kitchen and the dining area. The training room is in another building within 2 minutes of walk. Cooking will be done by a professional chef. Those who indicated their special diet in the application form get proper food according to their diet. Alsótold is a very small village with limited opening hours of shops and post office. There is no tobacco shop and no ATM in the village, it is important that you exchange enough money before. At the airport, only change a small amount of money, we advise you to exchange money in the city. Average exchange rate is above 300HUF/EUR. what to bring There are certain things we ask you to bring with you for your physical safety, personal hygiene of yourself and the other members of the group. Weather at this time of the year is mostly warm but it can be also chilly, the temperature will be around 20-40°C, but rain, wind and storms can be expected, as well as hot sun. Take care that you have enough clothes for 10 days of intensive movement. You might need to change clothes often. We will do a lot of exercises on the floor, also sit on the floor a lot, some activities will take place outside. Consider that we will move many times a day between the accommodation and the training location. Washing machine is not available in the accommodation. We ask you to wear these shoes ONLY inside, and use different ones for outside Backpack or smaller bag for your daily equipment Rainjacket Outdoor sports shoes Music of different styles, atmospheres and rhythms, without and with lyrics MP3 players and photo cameras Any accessories that you use for sports, dance, or theatre Your own medicines Money (participant’s contribution in cash in euros) Documents ID or passport insurance (described below) and / or your EHIC (E111) card invoices, tickets, boarding passes for travel reimbursement If you have any physical limitations, allergy, disease and/or use medicine we need to know about, indicate it in the application form. For you to arrive to the meeting point in time, you should arrive to Budapest latest 14.30. If you arrive 1-2 days earlier or leave later, please arrange your own accommodation for the extra time. If you need support in connection with this, let us know. A visit to touristic sites is NOT part of the program, if you want to use this opportunity for such visits too, please arrange your travel in a way that you have some days before or after the workshop and be aware that the Erasmus+ Programme does not support it.
