“A total of 795 students, aged between 18 and 25 years, from five
universities in Malaysia were surveyed. The prevalence of symptoms of
CVS (one or more) was found to be 89.9%; the most disturbing symptom
was headache (19.7%) followed by eye strain (16.4%).” This is an
exceedingly relevant issue for computer users worldwide.
For optimalcomputer use toassist in eliminatingCVS , follow thesesimple rules .
Make sure your arms are bent at a ninety
degree angle.
Level your chair between one to two feet
off the ground.
Make sure your legs are bent at a ninety
degree angle.
Place your desk at 2.25 to 2.5 feet off the
ground.
Have the angle you look down upon your
screen be about a twenty degree angle.
Settle the screen 1.5 to 2.5 feet away from your
eyes, about one arm’s length away.
Reduce glare from the computer screen by
adjusting the angle of the screen, draping
windows, or changing lightbulbs.
Remember the 20-20-20 rule. Every twenty
minutes, look at a distance of twenty feet away
from you for twenty seconds. This will help to
refocus your eyes and give your eyes a break.
Blink often. This will help to keep you from
getting dry eye, while looking at a screen.
Change thesettings on yourcomputer. Turndown or up thebrightness,
contrast, and fontsizes.
Wear a pair ofglasses
prescribed by adoctor just forviewing thecomputer.
Keep windowlight to yourside, notdirectly infront or
behind you.
