Dear Friends in Christ,
1) The St. Patrick golf tournament that had been scheduled for this Saturday, Oct 5
has been postponed until next Spring. We had seven teams signed up, mostly due
to conflicts with Anamosa PumpkinFest. We look forward to picking a better date
next year and fielding a bigger turnout! Stay tuned for new details...
2) We'll be replacing the carillon (bell) system at St. Patrick's this Fall due to the previous system
finally going beyond repair. A recent power outage/restore was "the straw that broke the camel's
back." The previous system was installed in 1967! The new one will be covered partly by an
insurance claim, and the remainder by memorial donations.
3) The Knights of Columbus will hold their appeal on behalf of Birthright during the upcoming
weekends in the North Linn Cluster churches. Thanks for supporting this good work.
4) I'll be helping hear confessions after this Saturday evening's Masses for 60 or so college students
from the University of Iowa at Camp Wapsi; they're on retreat there during the weekend. Please pray
for them as they open their hearts to the abundant mercy of the Father. I'm sure no one sins in
college anymore, but they could at least confess the moment of weakness when they chose to enroll
as Hawkeyes rather than Cyclones or Panthers...
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Nick

FAITH FORMATION
Children’s Liturgy Program
The Children’s Liturgy Program is every Sunday during the readings and homily. Preschool children through first grade have the opportunity to listen to the readings and to do a short art activity in the church basement while their parents hear the readings and the homily upstairs.
There are two different ways to get involved with this program. You could be a teacher or a helper. The time frame is approximately 15 minutes, so lessons and activities need to be prepared before your time with the children. Lesson plans and materials are available for each Sunday, but you can change the activity to fit your teaching comfort level. Before teaching and helping, you will have the program explained to you thoroughly, and you will observe a class.
If you are interested in being involved in this program, contact Patty Delagardelle at 319-462-3804. Feel free to talk to any of the teachers or helpers if you have any questions.
GRADES 1-8 FAITH FORMATION: October 9: Regular Classes from 6:30-7:45 pm.

The Fall dates are Sept 25 thru Nov 3. Please consider how you may best participate in this culture of life this Fall. Thank You!
