Let's all resolve to take better care of ourselves. Let's focus on the changes we can prac-tice every day--since those changes are the ones most likely to stick with us! There are 10 pointers worth considering to become a healthier you. We will cover the first five this week and look for the last five next week. 1. Eat Breakfast. Breakfast eaters are more likely to maintain a healthy weight. And breakfast will also help keep you clear-headed all morning. Your brain needs fuel after an overnight fast. 2. Move more. Aside from your regular exercise, try to work more activity into your day. Take the stairs, walk or bike to run errands, pace the floor while you're on the phone, and walk down the hall to visit with your friends instead of e-mailing or texting. Exercise is accumulative! Every time you move, you are burning calories, so the more you move, the more calories you burn! 3. Don't eat in front of a screen. Whether it's a computer, TV, or movie screen, when you're eating in front of it, you're not focusing on your food--you're likely to end up eat-ing more and enjoying it less. 4. Stop eating on the run. This means eating in the car, when you're walking across campus, or while you're getting dressed in the morning. Take time to sit down, focus on your meal, and enjoy. 5. Watch the liquid calories. Unless your liquid is a meal in itself, fluids should be calo-rie-free as often as possible. Get most of your calories from foods, not beverages--it's one of the easiest ways to cut out excess calories.

SGA NEWS

SGA sponsored the “Gratitude Steel Band” at the all-campus cookout on April 11, 2013. The band, composed of family members, whisked the audience away to the sandy beaches of the Caribbean. with their blend of steel drum classics, salsa, and contemporary music. The audience could easily believe that they were basking under the tropical sun, feeling

the warm sea breeze blowing through their hair as they ate.

Posted on the Gratitude Steel Band’s Facebook: “It was great playing for the students at Alice Lloyd College last night. From the sports teams to the staff and organizing com-

mittee & the great food, It was awesome! Thanks for having our band.”
