FACTS ABOUT MCPS

We hope that you find this year’s Comprehensive Staff Calendar useful. As always, the staff calendar is

packed with important dates to remember and systemwide information.

An interactive calendar also can be found online through the MCPS calendar tool. The tool is

customizable and users are able to “build their own calendar” based on select categories. You can

view the days schools are open and closed, Board of Education meeting information, fine arts events,

cultural and religious holidays, and much more. The calendar can be displayed by month or up to

12 months at a time. You can download it on your computer or mobile device in iCal format to

Outlook or other calendar programs. The calendar can be accessed from the home page of the MCPS

website or directly at www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/calendar/.

The Montgomery County Government and the Montgomery County Faith Community Advisory Council have developed Days of Commemoration calendars to display many of the cultural and religious celebrations that are important to members of our community. The calendars are available online at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcg/commemorations.html and http://montgomerycountyinterfaithmd.org/cultural-religious-observences/

Principals are asked to be aware of community needs when scheduling major events, and to be sensitive to students who may observe some of the cultural and religious celebrations listed on this calendar. These students may require individual arrangements, as deemed appropriate, through collaboration among parents, teachers, and administrators. For more information about accommodating the needs of students, please see the Guidelines for Respecting Religious Diversity on the MCPS website.
