Our new cat and dog books are shipping to stores right now and will be debuting on July 7th and July 14th. We think they’re spectacular [see their front covers on page 3] and we also love that royalties from them go to support a wonderful nonprofit organization, American Humane. American Humane is the country’s first national humane organization, founded in 1877 and committed to ensuring the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all animals. For more than 140 years, American Humane has been first to serve in promoting the welfare and safety of animals and strengthening the bond between animals and people. American Humane’s initiatives are designed to help whenever and wherever animals are in need of rescue, shelter, protection, or security. They are there when animals need to be protected in shelters, or rescued from natural disasters such as wildfires, hurricanes, or earthquakes. And what could be better than knowing that our donation is being used wisely? American Humane has earned Charity Navigator’s top “4-Star” rating, has been named a “Top-Rated Charity” by CharityWatch and a “Best Charity” by Consumer Reports, and achieved the prestigious “Gold Level” charity designation from GuideStar. American Humane is also well known for its No Animals Were Harmed animals-in-entertainment certification, which appears during the end credits of films and TV shows, and it also operates a farm animal welfare program and a zoo certification program. With all of that going on, we can’t think of a better place to donate royalties from our cat and dog books, and by the way, those donations may add up to tens of thousands of dollars!

With thanks, from your publisher, Amy Newmark @amynewmark

I submitted a story or poem for one of the future book topics posted on your website. Then you changed the title of the book. Do I need to submit my piece again for this revised title?

Sometimes we do revise the title of a future book. In that case, we always post the information that the title was “previously listed as….”

When that happens, there is NO need for you to submit your story or poem again if you submitted it under the former title. We have it in our system and it will be considered for this book with its new title.

However, if you submitted a piece for a book that has already been published and we did not use it, then YES, you may submit it again for one of our future books if you see a new one

posted that you think is a good fit.
