Principal's ReportWelcome back to term 2 2019. As you may be aware, Tamworth High School has been working through a range of staff chang-es, which are an important part of the ongoing renewal process. This helps schools ensure they are providing the best possible educational op-portunities for our students. This term we have welcomed Mr Aaron Woodland to the Eng-lish faculty, replacing Ms Veness and Mr Bryan Warren has taken up the position vacated by Mr Dunston in PDHPE. By the time you read this, the selection process for the new Head Teacher Wellbeing will be in its final phase. We are also in the first phase of selecting a new Head Teacher English to replace Mr Sowden, who has taken up a new role at Bundarra Central School. We will keep you informed of developments in coming weeks.

Despite falling over the holiday break, we had a strong rollup of students and staff for the AN-ZAC march last Thursday. As always, our students looked and behaved impeccably. On the subject of ANZAC ceremonies, I want to publicly recog-nise the great work of our students to deliver an impressive ANZAC ceremony late last term - our students were outstanding throughout, yet more evidence of the quality of THS students!

Over the last holiday break, Tamworth High School had a new phone system installed to facilitate improved internal and external commu-nication at all levels. As with any complex tech-nology, there will of course be some fine tuning and bug fixes to ensure that the full capabilities of the new system are utilised. In the mean-time, we appreciate your understanding as our team work to iron out the bugs. Once settled in, I am sure parents will find the new phone system a great improvement on the old system.

Some great news that was released late last term, the following students have been chosen to be Featured Artists for CAPERS 2019 - a great credit to each student and the large number of staff who have helped them reach this level - seriously folks - this is a big deal! Congratulations to the

following students:

• Keegan Baker (Year 12)• Kaylah Daly (Year 11)• Jordann Lavers (Year 12)• Lucy Beare (Year 9)• Miriam Csanki (Year 10)• Patrick Fogg (Year 12)• Sophia Newell (Year 8)

Last week our Year 12 students ran their first Pop-up Pizza Day, which whilst having a few minor issues with the schools recently acquired pizza oven, was still regarded as a successful first go. I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the next Pizza day! I also received very positive reports about THS students assisting at the West Tamworth Public School Athletics Carnival - as always, our students represented our school with pride and demonstrated exceptional levels of leadership - great work!

On Tuesday 7 May, we had our SRC/Senior Men-tor/JAECG Induction Ceremony - as always, this was a great occasion with parents and commu-nity members joining us to recognise our leaders of the future. I want to also thank the various staff who support these students with their role throughout the year:

SRC – Ms Susan Warden and Ms Melissa FieldJEACG - Mrs Kelli Allen and Ms Wendy BarnettSenior Mentors – Mrs Brooke Handsaker

On Friday 22nd March, Tamworth High School saw seven students attend the Bangarra Dance Work-shop held in Armidale. It was a great opportunity for students to learn new dance routines and tech-niques from the very professional Bangarra Dance Company.

All students were very well behaved on the excur-sion and participated well in the dance workshop. We would like to thank Miss McFadyen for her organisation and continued dedication to dance as well as Miss Halpin for accompanying students.

30 students across NSW were chosen from these workshops to join the NSW Public Schools Aborigi-nal Dance Company. Our Year 11 student, Wirrindah Whitton, was one of the talented students selected. Congratulations to Wirrindah, pictured here.
