Factors that influence people’s opinions

on refugees. –Clara Lynch, Tara Duffy and

Ciara Gregory

This project is to see the public’s opinion

on refugees coming into Ireland. In this

project they hope to find out which factors

influence the public’s opinion the most on

refugees. They suspect that race, religion,

wealth of their county, political opinion

and nationality will be big factors in their

findings.

Muck Yeah-Conor McEneaney, Sami

Miled, Jason Clarke

This project is a rubber scraper that scraps away cow manure in cattle sheds. The aim is to make the life of the farmer easier and a

more hygienic farm. Hand Break Alarm-Mark Quinn, Paudi

Ryan and Aaron Reihill

The aim of this project is to alarm you

when your hand break isn’t engaged. The

students aim to make this during school

time.

The impact of same sex marriage on the

economy on both sides of the border in

Ireland.– Ryan Duffy and Evan Cronin

The aim of this project is to show, in

depth, what impact same sex marriage

may have on the economy on North and

South of the border in Ireland.

to a successful newsletter is mak-

A great way to add useful content

What can I do to help maintain posi-

tive mental health?

1. Eat well, be well. The right food and

drinks can help keep your mind hy-

drated, active and energetic

2. Get a good night’s sleep. Most peo-

ple need at least 7 hours of quality

sleep to function properly.

3. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a

day.

4. Talk it out. Chatting about things

that bother you can help reduce the

problem.

5. Stay in touch with friends. Maintain-

ing relationships is a great way to keep

a positive mental health.

Positive Mental Health “Dry your tears, Tell

Bullying is ‘repeated aggres-

sion towards an individual

that can leave them mentally

scarred for life.’ It does not

come in only one form, it can

be physical, mental, cyber,

verbal and social. Cyber-

bullying is on the rise with

the increase in popularity of

social media and students are

more exposed to the threat

of being targeted online.

There are many options and

supports if you are being bul-

lied or if you know someone

who may experience bullying.

If bullied, tell your par-

ents.

Tell a trusted teacher,

counsellor, prefect, or

have your parents talk to

If it's happening online,

U-18 Boys GAA

The U18 boys GAA team did really well this

year reaching the Lennon Cup final. This

was the first time in decades that the

school reached the final of the premier

competition in Louth Schools GAA. Unfor-

tunately on the night our performance

wasn’t good enough. St Josephs, Drogheda

proved too strong for our boys and ran out

four point winners.

However a consolation was that, five of our

students achieved the much sought-after

accolade – A Lennon Cup All Star. This

function was held in DKIT. Through the

combined process of a judging panel and

online voting system via The Argus & Drog-

heda Independent five of our students

were selected for the All-Star Award.

The Students are:

1. Conor

Kenny

2. Eoin

Mc Daid

3. Cathal

Grogan

4. Michael Carron

5. Emmet Hughes

Also nominated on the night were Paddy

Hanlon and Rory Duffy.

Congratulations to the team on getting so

far in the competition and well done to all

the students who were nominated for indi-

vidual All Stars. .

Volunteering at Rath Abbey This is an organisation that is associated with elderly people that have Alzheimer’s. The T.Y. students go to Rath Abbey every Monday and Thursday from twelve to half three and take care of the elderly people in the Birches community. This was a task given to us by Ms. Lynch, one of our T.Y. teachers. She believed that this task would test us with our social skills. Personally I find this experience very reward-ing. I listen to their stories, I get to learn about their lives, their experiences which are very different to mine today. One of the best things about this task is just by listening, I get to make someone’s life a little brighter. The more times we visit, the bond becomes stronger with everyone at the Birches commu-nity. I find that this task teaches the T.Y. Stu-dents more than they think. Recently the T.Y. Students had a Cinema Day down at the Birches Community. The film been shown was White Christmas, and also the TY girls brought treats from their mini company 'Milseán Milis', gave out free pop-corn and sweets to the residents and T.Y. Students present. That's only one of many great events we plan to do for the Birches Community. -Darragh Woods

Must see movie! Mockingjay Pt. II picks up straight after

the first one with a wounded Katniss

reeling from a very personal attack by

Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), and

struggling to get to grips with her new

surroundings. The war between the Dis-

tricts and the Capitol is now reaching its

finale, with President Coin (Julieanne

Moore) and her army surrounding Presi-

dent Snow (Donald Sutherland) for the

final showdown. All while this is happen-

ing, Katniss is trying to figure out what

Coin's plan is for after the war and

whether or not she can be trusted. Kat-

niss has plans of her own that involve

assassinating President Snow by herself.

Watch as Katniss fights for her and her

people’s freedom one last time and go

see Mockingjay part 2 in cinemas now!

Tony Buzan visits Bush Post Primary School

Tony Buzan, the world’s leading author on the brain and learning and the inventor of Mind Maps gave a truly inspirational seminar to 3rd and 6th year students in Bush Post Primary School on Friday 25th September. He demonstrated the basics of Mind Mapping which is proven to push the memory to an entirely new level and encourage better thinking, improved concentration and enhanced recall. The students used col-our to design their own Mind Maps and Tony’s relaxed and professional approach engaged them throughout. Mind Mapping can release the potential of every student regardless of their academic ability, revolutionise study skills and maximise success in exams whatever the subject or academic level. Tony advised students about taking effective, usable and reliable notes in class and while studying at home and he also spoke about intelligence, exam stress and how students can cope with pressure. Many of the teachers attended part of the work-shop and they participated alongside their students. Tony enhanced creativity and command of brain power during his workshop and after his visit he commented that the flowers of intelligence are growing fast and tall in Bush Post Primary School.

School Art Sculpture

Right now the art department in the Bush are working on an art project with the artist Sean O’Dwyer.

The Media.

The Source is a mixed media work including a cast reconstituted stone figurative piece, from a handmade mould off a clay model. The work rests upon a natural stone pillar made from stone sourced nearby. The piece will be surrounded in the immedi-ate locale by found natural objects sourced by art teachers and staff through further involvement with pupils. The “Stressless Space” may also provide other opportunities for ideas to increase the appeal of the space in the future and initiate a promotion of the space for other objects that compliments the concept.

It is proposed to plaster a small area of the wall behind the installation piece and have hanging on it a small outdoor painting on a concrete panel inspired by the beau-tiful scenery of the locale as part of the overall concept. This piece is entitled “The Aether in The Blue: Mountain of Light Carlingford”.

The idea.

With the stunning setting of Bush Post Primary school and its students and staff fore-most in mind, this is a specially produced piece about the making of substance and what that might be for each of us. It’s a work about ideas and where ideas come from, it’s a piece about the source of inspiration designed to inspire the students and staff of the school as they go about their daily routine.

The Symbolism.

“The Source” contains references featuring A Woman from whose hand flows life to

the objects of form and substance. The painting “The Aether in The Blue: Mountain

of light Carlingford” is of the same scene and celebrates the schools relationship to

the local scenery as a source of diversion for the busy mind.
